When do you think Kelly will announce the QB starter?

Monday press conference before the opener seems like a good time. The staff will probably know their guy by the end of camp but no need to say anything publicly before then.
Game week you want your starter getting all the reps with the first team.

I think the official depth chart will be TBD up to gameday but the players will know during the week leading up.

Hopefully an hour before kickoff so the rantards can melt like a motherfricker prior to the game, then melt again after the announcement.

Probably the week of the FSU game.
However, I suspect it will be known to the team at least 2 weeks before the game (maybe more). With a new HC, new OC, several new players, a new offensive system, and the fact LSU is not opening with a "rent a win" opponent, I'd imagine the staff wants the first team working together as much as possible leading up to the game.

Not sure when it will be announced, but we’ll all know probably a couple of weeks into camp. Was listening to Denbrock this morning on Off the Bench, and they asked him about a timeline relative to the QB position. He said it was pretty crucial they make a decision within the 1st couple of weeks, because all 3 have such different skill sets that they’re gonna have to start tailoring the offense to the starter.
With any QB competition, you want to give the eventual starter the reps they need, and that obviously still applies. But this year is unique when you add the coaching change with the 3 QBs whose skills would be better suited for different schemes, so the timeline is sped up. They can’t afford to let the competition run through the end of fall practice. He said they obviously hope somebody steps up, takes charge, and makes the decision for them. But if not, they’re gonna have to go ahead and make it probably earlier than they would like to or would have to in a normal year.
