Why does everyone want to blame the coaches? Honest question, have you ever heard stories of Mett having a great work ethic and spending the extra time working on the position? I sure haven't.

Oh, I don't know. How about these reasons:

1. Five years now of ineffective QB play with three different QBs, all of whom were four star recruits coming out of high school. That's called a pattern and the common denominator is the coaching staff.

2. Current QB was highly successful JUCO QB, who has an NFL caliber arm.

3. Other schools, like oh - aTm - are able to take a three star recruit, start him as redshirt freshman and make him highly effective.

4. La. Tech has a good QB, but we don't.

5. The coaches recruit the QBs. Are they that bad at judging talent?

I'll give it a rest with that. Bottom line is that if a school with LSU's ability to recruit can't get one good QB on campus in five years, that is a coaching failure. Te failure could be in recruiting (unlikely), development (more likely) or scheme (most likely).

The way I'm seeing it. Mett, is not relaxed and having fun, he looks like a teenager, when you ask one to take out the garbage. My theory is, the kid is being over coached and has information overload from the Krag summit meetings between posessions. Maybe, it's is time to send Krag back to the box, turn the reins loose and let the kid play. The hay is in the barn.

When almost all of us (admit it or not) would swap QB with almost any other school in Louisiana (some high schools included), we have a problem.

They need to get the kid out of that protective nook that they construct for him on the sidelines. It screams "head case!" Worse, it screams "rabbit ears!". Make him man up and face the world like everyone else.

So you're comparing Mett to Lee/Jefferson, that's valid.

JUCO is relevant to the SEC, OK.

What Johnny football does is due to coaching, hunh?

You know that LaTech's QB doesn't work hard.

Talent =/= work ethic

See, I can play too.

We recruited Landry and Beckham, the nos. 4 and 6 WR recruits in the nation, and now their play sucks, too.
These kids are great athletes.
Why does their play seem to scream "underachievement"?
Answer: the coaching and the coaches offensive scheme.
I really like Les Miles, but you get the bad with the good.

As I watched Bama last night, I said to myself, The only difference between him and Mett, AJ is relaxed, having fun and not pressing

In defense to Mettenberger, at least he hasn't made a lot of mistakes. He's had like about 2 INT's and maybe a a fumble or two at this point of the season.

Hard for him to live up to the expectations but he has not shown yet that he was good enough to beat out Murray at Georgia. For me, the thought that he was on par or better than Murray set up huge expectations. I think he will improve to finish this season strong!

The problem I hate to say it is the coaches. The WR have struggled catching well thrown passes. Couple that with the defenders knowing what pass route is being run leads to tight coverage. Game plan is to simple.

On top of that the Oline is only giving Mett a tiny pocket that is quickly being compressed around him.

Running game is unimaginative... we have the personnel to make it work anyway. That doesn't work with a passing game.

Seems like everytime the offense runs a play that is totally out of character from them (half back screen/counter whatever) it works. Simply need to do more of that stuff.

That is what I'm saying, the coaches are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Get Krag back in the box, call play's to Mett's and receivers strengths and let them loose, For better or worse.
