I'm pretty sure Mathieu reads these boards. He literally takes everything negative as words of encouragement.

He was better at lsu. FACT

TM was the single most exciting LSU player i've ever seen. what he was able to do, to be able to swing games single handedly, was amazing.

why did Patrick Peterson wear the number 7?

Is it because his home state of Florida resembles the number 7

Just a thought......

Although TM7 was a great player, he was not the best to wear it, PP7>>> TM7 FACT

We have different definitions of the word fact. TM7 was the better CFB player IMO. There has never been a player that did what he did.

His 11 forced fumbles are 4 more than the next closest guy in LSU history.

Defender Man to man PP>>TM
Defender Zone PP>>Tm
Playmaker TM>>PP
Returner TM>>PP at LSU; PP>TM in NFL. but they do play on the same team so that kinda one sided. PP is relinquishing his return role. Maybe TM will turn out to be the better returner.

Didn't realize Reid wore the #7.

If you don't like the thread, don't click on it. It's pretty simple.

I don't know if that is true.

TM7 is also more versatile. He has played very well at Safety.

TM7 was insane at LSU, and I think turnovers are the 2nd most important stat in football behind points.

14 turnovers in 2 years, 11 forced fumbles, 6 sacks, 4 interceptions, 16 PBU's, 16 tackles for losses

PP7 was a better returner

More versatile than an NFL corner playing running back? K.

None of those are "much greater than"s. TM had pretty good coverage skills in zone and man, PP was electric when the ball was close to him, and PP made a stupid amount of huge returns that won games in his tenure. If Fournette is anywhere close to as productive to those two I will be more than satisfied.

#7 > # 18 but it is just incidental.

It is just a popular number in general

They are damn near identical in their last years at LSU as punt returners. It may take 25 years to see another season like TM7 had in 2011. You old farts need to get over the whole "big bad marijuana" problem that Mathieu couldn't cope with in college. It's not even arguable. PP7 made it cool. TM7 made it sexy. Get over it. He was a Heisman Finalist AFTER getting suspended for one game.

Simmer down, man. I love Mathieu.
I just think Peterson was a better return guy. Unfortunately, he only got to do it for one year.
It's too bad he wasn't returning punts and kickoffs as a freshman and sophomore.

Ban TIGERLEE. If he/you had grown up with what TM7 had to go through, you'd be serving life at Angola getting the chocolate speedway boogie on a regular basis making your own stains...
