I'm fine with Brennan coming back for one year and then Howard taking over.

Nuss and Max have just been such a shitshow I'm not sure its going to work out with either of them.

This is fricking idiotic. Joe Burrow didn't leave before the bowl game in which he was going to start.
good lord, this is a shitty bowl that absolutely no one cares about. I hate opt outs for bowls, I really do, but this bowl is a non-event for a program like LSU.

And I don't begrudge Max for entering the portal to see where he can go. He played all the way through the season, which is more than others did. Not hanging on through Jan. 4 for a crappy bowl that no one cares about isn't something I get worked up about.

Now if this were a major bowl, I think Max would still be here. But this bowl is garbage.

Max yes. Nussmeier? No. Guy had like a half a start as a freshman with shite OC. You can’t possibly write the kid off just yet. It’s illogical.

You think he’ll get that from any other decent program? No, unless he goes to a smaller program who has no QB’s. I heard he’s going to USM in Hattiesburg.

More than likely Brennan posted that IG pic because he wants to come back and is trying to get Kelly's attention. Since he hasnt announced anything I would say its safe to assume to say kelly said no thanks. The Brennan dick suckers really need to find a new hero.

Nebraska is after him but he told them he’s taking his time and weighing his options.

I and most LSU fans I know would be ecstatic if he came back.

It’s good for him. He becomes presumptive starter with a load of offensive weapons at wr to help his stats.

It’s good for LSU because it allows our younger QB’s one more year of experience before we throw them to the fire. It gives LSU an experienced veteran that we trained.

This is just silly. I'm pretty sure McMillan was gone in 2017 when Brennan started his LSU career.

Myles Brennan would have certainly started in 2018, if not for The Great Burrow Coup.

Really, read the recap of the 2018 spring game, he had the worse outing of the three (Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse). These are not studs, he struggled to beat out below average QBs at LSU. This is why I tried desperately to get Joe Burrow, the luckiest move in his career.
LINK

Point is, if your a stud QB you don't struggle to win the starting job against these guys.

Cant begrudge either Brennan or Johnson for leaving. There is not a single coach in college football worth their salt that will promise a starting QB job to anyone that is not a long established successful starter. Certainly not CBK going into his first year as a new coach. New era with the portal where at a place like LSU you are not gonna have 3 or 4 highly recruited and talented QBs stay multiple years without starting and waiting until their time.

Chance Brennan returns not likely, the OC and QB coach will be a big factor if he does. Also probably a determinant, is who of the Power 5 teams has a glaring need left after the main guys in the portal choose.

Are we really using stats from the 2018 SPRING GAME to discredit a QB for 2022?!?!? Let’s not be stupid here dude.

No, not using stats to discredit anybody. I made the statement that Brennan could not beat out sub-par competition in 2018, and people said it was not true. Just read the piece, McMillan was leading going into fall camp, the Burrow came along. All FACTS... People on here have made Brennan out to be this super star based on his HS stats, and stats from three games in 2020, all against weak competition and we lost two of those. Just trying to get people to see this in a realistic light. Brennan never beat out any one for the starting job at LSu and people want to make him out as our only saviour.

Idk about savior but having a QB with legit experience and is EXTREMELY familiar with the team can’t be a bad thing. Would you rather Max Johnson? Ffs you’re talking about a spring game from 2018. Not to mention it was pretty well established he was hurt in the offseason of 2018. Hence why LSU looked to the portal. If he comes back it could only be a positive. Gives our other 2 QBs more time to develop.

Comes in skinny - had to sit
Falls behind a phenomenal qb - had to sit
Got injured - had to sit
Dealt with Covid - disruptive to his expectations
Dealt with the O show - deserves a medal for not getting publicly frustrated with the circus

The guy has not had a run up and complete season since 2019 and that was insane. It’s anybody’s guess if he can get his head right and play one normal year. Sounds like he just wants one year to play before his football career ends, or to show the NFL. I hope he stays, wins the job and exceeds expectations

And Myles isn’t? Explain to me how Myles isn’t a competitor and Max is? Make it make sense.

Why does everyone assume the reason Max and Brennan left was b/c Kelly wouldn’t guarantee them the starting job? Seems just as plausible that Kelly would guarantee Howard the starting job, in which case, it doesn’t make sense for Max and Brennan to stay. Kelly knows next yr will be rebuilding…Why not go ahead and guarantee the job to Howard and let him get experience?
Personally…I don’t think Kelly would guarantee the job to anyone. He likely tells them all that they will have the opportunity to compete for the starting job.
