A month ago, it looked like this season could be good, could be bad - but we had a good recruiting class.

ESPNU radio this morning was playing the "yaw yaw" song again while talking about LSU's situation. Does anyone really think that anything less than a double digit victory result this year will do anything but further hurt the program?

Seriously, no bs, how does Ed O earn some respect in the coaching community and lock down the state (right now he can't even lock down kids that went to HS on LSU's campus) without having a 10+ win season?

You’ll get a bunch of false narratives but here is the truth- recruiting classes are much more a reflection of where you are going, not where you are.

So in December if we have 5 loses and we’re talking about the next guy then Louisiana will get raided. You’ll still get some diehard kids (stingley) but any kids on the fence aren’t coming here.

Our defense will be nasty so basically the future of our program, O’s job security, Allevas job security and possibly F Kings job security will all be determined by Steve Einsminger in 2018.

It’s easy to say give them time before you’re actually on the cusp of not going to a bowl. LSU fans haven’t been there in a while. It’ll get nasty if we go back.

ETA: But If his class begins to crumble and the losses pile up O may honestly be fired.

I’ve went on record several times saying give him 3 but I won’t stand by that if we go to the independence bowl. With that said I think he has an 8.5 million dollar buyout. They’re not going to commit 20 million dollars to buyouts.

Alleva is a joke.

He doesn't?

He has to win. No way around that.

O got something for nothing when he got Alleva to hire him. The rest of the public won't be that charitable.

I'm not sure that's really possible. He can keep his job with a 7-8 win season but he's not going to magically be a respected head coach without showing he can bring our program back to a place of prominence by taking a step forward this year. If he's able to do that, the recruits and the respect naturally will follow. Another middling 7-9 win effort and recruiting will be a real battle this offseason.

You wanted Hootie Jones over Jamal Adams?

You don't like Joe Burrow, Breiden Fehoko, Jonathon Giles, Thaddeus Moss or Cole Tracy?

Is Dylan Moses going to be better than Grant Delpit or the #1 LB in the nation in Jacob Phillips?

Locking down the state gets you players like Brandon Harris as your starting quarterback.

Jesus, man. This is idiotic even by your standards. Now all of a sudden we don't care about locking down Louisiana?

Win...and keep winning at a rate equal to or better than the coach we fired. It's that simple.

Like all respect, it has to be earned. And the more he craves it and asks for it through his surrogates before earning it, the more people will call it out and creepy and disingenuous.

What I think is illustrative is that people continue to act like there's nothing he could do to be respected, lone before he's actually done anything worthy of that respect. Shouldn't we wait until he earns it...or is that too much to ask?

Have I ever said locking down Louisiana is a must? If I did please link because I don't remember saying it.

Some of the best players for LSU football, basketball and track have been from out of state.

Ever heard of Patrick Peterson, Y.A. Tittle, Joseph Addai, Matt Flynn, Ben Wilkerson, Matt Mauck, Shaquille O'Neal, Pete Maravich, Rohan Davey, Zach Mettenberger to name a few?

I don't know. But anyone with half a brain understands that for LSU to get back to where we were, we need to lock down the wealth of talent in our home state. Our success or lack thereof in recruiting our own state over the years has borne a pretty strong relationship to our on-field success. If you want to ignore or downplay the built-in advantages we have as the only major program in a state chock full of talent, that's not my problem.
