West Virginia threw for over 500 on LSU but only scored 21, because once they were inside the 20 they were dead. when you have 5 receivers on a field that small, Peterson could cover all 5 by himself.
That's where talent at RB comes in. Guice, Ducre, Fournette, Brossette, Williams.
A matter of fact, look at Charles Sims for WVU last year. He came from a pass happy spread in Houston to one in WVU.
Houston
2009 - 132 car 698 yards (5.3 ypc) 9 TDs, 70 rec 759 yards 1 TD
2010 missed with injury
2011 - 110 car 821 yards (7.46 ypc) 9 TDs, 51 rec 574 yards 4 TDs
2012 - 142 car 846 yards (5.96 ypc) 11 TDs, 37 rec 373 yards 3 TDs all of this in only 9 games
West Virginia
Senior - 208 car 1095 yards (5.26 ypc) 11 TDs, 45 rec 401 yards, 3 TDs all in 12 games
Sumlin and Kingsbury were his coaches for 2009 and 2011. They threw it 744 times in '09 and 682 times in '11. Even without those two, they threw it 591 times in 2012. Holgerson, even with crappy QB play, threw it 464 times. That 2011 run game scored 33 times on only 430 carries. That is way more efficient than we have ever been. They had a similar 2011 as we did in the run game, just waaay less carries.
Also Holgerson's team, while not good at running this year, have ran in 217 times in 5 games, and they don't even have a dual threat QB. For reference, we have ran it 283 times in 6 games. They have also played some serious run defensez in Oklahoma and Alabama.
They have ran it 52 times against Towson, 59 times against Maryland, 40 times against Oklahoma, and 42 times against Kansas. That is LSU level running.

For years people on here would roll their eyes if you brought up the possibility of a Mike Leach at LSU. What did his QB throw for last Saturday? 735 yds? In one freaking game. NCAA record.
Who won?
How many titles of any kind does Leach have?
You must be one of those demented souls that would rather see LSU lose a game 44-45 than win one 14-10.

I would trade Gary, Amber's boyfriend.

Man you people are dense. What 14-10 game have we been a part of lately? Why people think it is impossible to have a great defense along side a great offense is beyond me. Leach had Texas Tech in the top 5. Look around the league. Even the NFL is incorporating these styles of offense.

For two or three weeks. And that was literally the height of his career. About a month ranked in the top 5, during the middle of the season, 6 years ago.
Look, I love watching Leach's offenses, and he's certainly at the vanguard of a spread revolution. But if Miles had that kind of a win-loss record, he'd have been fired years ago.

because that offense doesnt work.
mike leachs offense works just fine. he doesn't have the defensive talent that an LSU or Alabama has.

If he would be a coordinator under a defensive minded coach, a team like that, would be ridiculous!
it really would. people should go watch the highlights of the WSU vs Cal game. That QB is well coached.

theres no combining that with an LSU defense. I assure you, Leach has thought of that. it has occurred to him that holding the other team to 50 points or less would be beneficial. thats not the problem. the problem is his defense has no one to practice against. they dont face a good running back, or strong o line, or big strong receivers, all they see every day is air raid.
leach's defense gave up 2 more points than LSU did this past saturday.
two TD's were given up on special teams kickoff returns for TD's

Ole Miss does quite well with it with a SENIOR qb not as mobile as the two we have.
hey let's compare a 22 yr old 3 yr starter to our two inexperienced QBs

yeah, that's not a fair comparison.
