You gotta throw the ball cause you ain't gonna do shite vs 9 Alabama defenders in the box. You gotta protect Metro cause if not we gonna get raped. And from what I have seen I think bama leaves some guys open down the field expecting the QBs to throw short routes b/c they have so much success getting to the QB. If we cant protect we fricked and if we through quick short routes we will play right into their hand.... and I dont think we will protect or throw down the field. Bama 17- LSU 13

No huddle scripted first drive. Ware it the wildcat and throwing not just running. TE utilized in the red zone as a receiver. A few gimmick plays. Change tempo from no huddle to huddle. Throw deep at least 4 times. No bubble screen!

I've been watching Saban-coached defenses closely for 12 years now, and here's what I'd do:

1st half:
(1) Spread them out (3-4 wides) and run Ford and Shepard on some misdirection. Use the perimeter.
(2) Mix in some short passes to the TE's using the middle of the field, stay ahead of the chains
(3) Sneak a TB out of the backfield down the middle of the field, either a streak route or inside screen pass. We've seen this work again his Ds for years.
(4) if you get in the red zone, the sluggo will probably work again. Run it to Boone or Beckham.
(5) Take a shot on deep post to Beckham. If it's intercepted, that's ok.

Depending on what works in the 1st half dictates how to proceed in 2nd. If the middle of their D starts to loosen up, them start pounding Ware and Hill.

WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN BETWEEN THE TACKLES early in this game. If we try that crap again, it will be a looooooong night.

You might as well forget the edge unless its ware with ford/hill running the option (maybe Shepard). Call me retarded if you want, but I think we will have success running RIGHT at them. Lael, turner, lonergran and williford will be ready. They DO NOT have a Hightower, or upshaw. They just don't. These guys are not as physically impressive. Mosley does not have me scared.

The edge will be harder.

Look, Alabama runs a 3-4 defense. They are going to run a lot of zone blitz packages to make Mett very uncomfortable. This is going to leave man coverage on the outside. This is where you hit them. I know it's not our strength, but it can make them respect the edge of the field and loosen up the middle.

.

I agree. I think we can run at 7 but not 8 or 9

What? TAMU was a good passing team until they faced us and USCe was good until they faced us. I would say Bama hasn't faced as much passing as LSU thus far into the season.

Our defense was gashed for 258 yards rushing and 406 yards total. Other than this one game, we had shut down all other good teams' rushing attacks. We give up 104.56 yards rushing on average. We obviously did not bring our best game.
South Carolina looked great passing against average at best defenses, but when faced against great defenses our passing didn't look so pretty. Texas A&M is tied for 57-70th place in turnovers lost, and JFF has looked great against all teams save the two that also shut South Carolina down. JFF, the offense, and/or the coaching staff hasn't responded well to defensive adjustments made by elite defenses.

Wern it sounds something like the Saints O
And a good game plan.

But the poster who talked about Hightower no longer being there Allso makes a good point . This Bama D is not the D of the past!!!

This LSU offense is not last year's LSU offense.
This LSU defense is not last year's LSU defense.
They're both arguably worse.

Alabama's offense is not last year's Alabama offense.
It's better.
Alabama's defense is not last year's Alabama defense.
I won't say this one's better, but it's remarkably dominant. The best descriptions I've heard go along the lines of:
2011: More physical/harder hitting, immovable
2012: Faster, more opportunistic (generates more turnovers)
That's about right right?

Madara we have 4 first round draft picks on our D line
2 will go in the top 5 mingo and Montgomery !
Reed is going in the first round simon the second
Liston would be a first round pick except for his injuries
Minter has been unstoppable .

Bama is like moostate they have not played any one!

Their off is much better then ours but our D is better

Don't have enough time to perfect it. We need to go to a spread look 3 wr no TE for 50% of the plays AND keep the play calling 50/50 run-pass.

Also need to have more RB screens, NO wr screens.
In the red-zone (I pray we see the red zone) we need to keep the field spread, NO double TE sets the whole game. Also some 4 wr packages with 1 back to block or go out on screen.

I'll settle at you've both played a good offense, but Tennessee is greater than anything you've faced. I recognize you will have several great draft picks, probably more than Alabama, but that doesn't prove your defense is better. Alabama has played better defenses, while LSU has played slightly better offenses as a whole. I don't want to go into a statistics breakdown, but I know Alabama is dominating them, despite you two facing offenses with an average ranking that is nearly even.

Ford had 72 yards last year. LSU isn't going to run the ball up the middle effectively vs Bama. Any hope of moving the ball will have to be with a diverse offense, not something predictable.
