Yeah, I'd have to be dead, or my wife or daughter seriously injured (I won't even risk jinxing myself by mention the D word when it comes to them).

I went to a band meeting at my freshmen daughter's high school tonight. Their festival is Saturday. The want the parents to work it. It starts at 7:15 in the morning so I figured I'd take the early shift. There are no shifts! You show up at 7:15 and you are not done until its over AND cleaned up. This pretty much means not over til about 6:45pm.
I called my daughter into the kitchen when I got home and told her I will not be going to work at festival, she needed to find a ride home when all was done, and that her band director is a schmuck for not knowing what day to schedule festival in the state of Louisiana.

There is absolutely no excuse for that. No one should have anything as flexible as a HS band festival scheduled on that date who lives in this state.
