play on the field still trumps all to me

So you are comparing HS play to College play. Okay...

quote:

up to this point rj has shown he can come in on running plays and block. that is his consistency

And that is pretty improtant to a power running team, don't you think?

i'm talking regular season

You are assuming that a freshman will come in and learn everything he needs to learn in 4 weeks of fall camp before the start of the season. You seem quick to want to blame the coaches if RR doesn't start the seaon as the #3 or #4 WR. It's up to RR to learn a very complex multiple offense if he wants to see the field. With our young QB's the last thing we need is a WR out there running the wrong routes.

I don't have a problem with giving the upperclassman a start early. Who plays more is obviously much more important.

i've heard that RJ will be the #4 WR over randall. that just doesn't seem to be right unless he's turns his body around

First off, who is #3?

Secondly, how in the world could this have been decided already? From what kind of source did you hear this? Is this an initial depth chart issue? Were you told that this is what it would be like for game 1?

the only time RJ has seen the field is in 4-5 WR sets, which is predicated on crowton's SPREAD PASSING scheme

and the #1 important aspect of being a WR is being a good receiver. blocking is WAAAY behind that

is there any evidence that RJ jackson knows the entire offense and what routes to run against the coverages he faces?

have you seen him do this in a live game before?

Don't forget about DeAngelo Peterson. He may have been moved to TE, but he is still gonna be a receiving threat.

I'm going to assume that the fact he is still on the team for a 5th year is indicative of this...

is there any evidence that this is anything other than another Hester/Williams thread in disguise?

We run most of our WR screens, WR reverses and WR sweeps out of our 4-5 WR sets and WR blocking is KEY to those plays hiting for big gainers.

I agree with ForeLSU on this...If they have him on the field as a 5th year player, that is evidence he knows what to do.

SFP, did you make a bet with someone that you could start a 5 page thread on the rant before 4:00?

RJ has caught something like two passes in three years. What makes you possibly think that he will get playing time over Randle?

My reaction would be to support CLM if he and Crowton decide that RJ is starting ahead of RRandle. If they think he deserves the start there is a good reason for it.
Anyone thinking otherwise should STFU.

RJ would have started in 2006 at RB had he not blown his knee.

I don't know where yal are getting his body has let him go, he's one of the strongest players on the team.

He just got lost in the shuffle after he got hurt. if he actually gets a chance to do something other than block in a game i think he'll surprise some people. they tried in the peach bowl but the play got blown up.

My reaction wont change, I trust the coaches decision and if RJ is on the field instead of Randle that means that RJ has impressed them more.

Why do we even have threads like this when we could be talking about JJ vs JL and other topics related to JJ vs JL?

1. this is the inside info as of now

2. this is still hypothetical-based

i just picked the most glaring example of potential "wtf" depth chart positioning that i could think of this year

many positions seem safe. the main competition will be at CB and DT, 2 positions that require a ton of subjectivity in evaluation that aren't worth arguing over until kids start playing (however last year we did run into this situation with PP, but we can all blame maleveto for that mistake)

Not unless you have the credentials to do so.
BTW, nobody on these boards has them.
So shut up, sonnyboy.
