just brought in o'bryant too. i mean this is a bad loss but no need to over react. wanted to see us doing a better job getting after it defensively under 4 minutes, didn't agree with the players on the court at all times. it wasn't an extremely well coached game either but i don't think it's a good time to say trent can't recruit or isn't a good coach.

LSU relevant not just in the SEC but National contenders ?

When was the last time LSU was a CONSISTENT national contender? We were one 1/4 years or so and even under Daddy Dale, the SEC was always the goal. We haven't been higher than a 4 seed in 30 years. I do not think we are really much of a national contender ever. I think we can be and that's why we hired a coach like TJ. Let's be patient. We knew this wasn't going to be an instantaneous process. Or did you think we were going to become Duke overnight? The SEC is a conference full of atheletes, but alas, the SEC just isn't a basketball conference the same way that the ACC isn't a football conference.

S...true..as long as Trent is building a process and has structure for this team to improve, I will be fine with that. I just want to know that the muscles are getting stronger on this team and that the conditioning and other factors are going well. I also want to know that the players are going to class and learning and having fun as student atheletes. If Trent can build this team and program in a positive direction, I will gladly accept step-increments. It is the process (not mocking Nick Saban). but seriously, if I know this loss will build postively for this team and program for next year or a future goal, I am all in.

NEED a good OOC win to neutralize this loss. We need 10 wins before SEC play, if not 11-12. Right now, I'd say 17 wins sounds about right.

LSU is NOT a basketball school, it is not now and it never will be- we are football and baseball school so take that former Duke AD Alleva!

False. We have plenty of potential in basketball. We are the school that produced Shaq, Chris Jackson, Pete Maravich, and Bob petit just to name a few. LSU has plenty of ability to be great and we have had great teams. Other schools such as florida texas are good in all three just as we should be. I dont expect our basketball team to play to the level of our football or baseball team but there is plenty of talent in Louisiana that gets away from us (greg monroe, tweety carter, lacedarius dunn, martin zeno to name a few) and plenty of history at our school that we should perennially be in the tourney and make a run every so often.

At the rate we are progressing it appears TJ has a five year plan.

We were definitely a football then basketball school for quite some time.

LSU held the record for the largest crowd to see a college basketball game for many years. They still have the 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest crowds ever to see a game and their 68,000+ record that stood for many years is still bigger than anything in NBA history as well. That's unbelievable.

And the Deaf Dome was one of the most exciting places in college basketball for many years. Dick Vitale used to have it in his top 10 for best atmospheres.

So right now it's pretty lame, but in the past LSU basketball was much bigger than baseball (which I love as well). But winning consistently in big fashion tends to bring more interest. Still, I'd never say we'll never be a basketball school because it used to be crazy.

Did anyone really expect the basketball team to be good, or even decent this year?? LSU's gonna be bad again this year, so please temper your expectations. There is average talent on this team, and the talent that is there is inexperienced. They will get better as the season progresses and may upset some highly ranked teams, but they will not win consistently. This year's team is not gonna make any postseason tournaments, so don't get your hopes up. It is what it is. However, things should look up next year when our talent matures. If things are still bad next year, then we've got bigger problems...

I'm a very positive, very optimistic basketball fan. However, I'm a little surprised at what I saw tonight. I'm going to try to reserve judgment for a few more weeks, but if you were at the game tonight and saw what was on the court there was some cause for concern. I hope I am over-reacting.
