I was there seating in Section 23 with my wife to be. Woke up in the morning and started preparing for the game, ??? It was the best I've seen, loud crowd into the game and Tigers playing like Tigers, will never forget it. Had a real chance to beat one of the best team ever even though not given a chance.

That USC team may have been the best collection of talent ever to come into Tigers Stadium.
Three no-brainer Hall-of-Famers in Marcus Allen, Anthony Munoz and Ronnie Lott. Two Heisman winners in Allen and Charles White. All-American Lineman Brad Budde and long-time NFL tight end Hobie Brenner just off the top of my head.
LSU had nowhere near that level of talent but played it to the end and Tiger Stadium has never been louder in my lifetime and it's not even close really.

So the LSU fans are biased and you are completely objective. I get it.
That is correct. Watch the vid

No we can agree on one more thing Lower - Oklahoma should not have been in the 2004 Sugar Bowl.

I read that Jim Fisher Ex Titans head coach was a defensive back. He was quoted as saying it was the loudest game he has ever been in.

I think that's Jeff Fisher. He was a DB at USC then.

No it was not the greatest moment in LSU's long history but it was LSU finest moment in it's history.
Excellent way to say this!
I was at this game while a student (1st semester at LSU) and I have to say that this game was kind of a conversion experience for me. You see, I had grown up in Southern California, and been to the Coliseum to see both USC and UCLA play, as well as the Rams. The games were not at all noisy and actually quiet. Same for the Dodgers and Angels out there. Only noise was really at the Laker games down at the Forum.
As a kid I had really grown up liking USC because they were such a wide open team that always "blew the doors off" teams like Ohio State and Michigan in the Rose bowl, and you could usually count on them to whip Notre Dame too (that is worth something).
So now it is 1979 and I am at LSU for my 3rd football game there. The Colorado and Rice games really had not been that remarkable, but USC was shaping up to be different. Friday night in the French quarter with out of town friends was a prelude to the clash of USC/LSU the next night.
I punched my ID on Saturday into the student section, and I have just never experienced anything like that game before or since. It was amazing to witness the depth of the passion of everyone there and get pulled into the excitement.
It is remarkable that the entire fan base stuck with the level of energy they threw into this game for 4 full quarters, it was non stop...it is even more remarkable that the cheering support continued for at least 20 minutes after losing the game.
I had walked into that game as a fan of the USC Trojans I knew from my younger years out there, I left a Tiger fan for life.

Greatest sporting event of my lifetime, I've seen a few. The crowd at that game will never be equaled. My Dad talked with Jeff Fisher (Titans ex coach, was DB at Southern Cal) and asked if he remembered that game. His exact words: " I sure do, I'll never forget it ". As the old saying goes, you had to be there... and I was.

It was my first LSU game, and I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER been more proud to be a TIGER fan! And, I have been to many a big game since (Florida v. LSU in 2007 comes to mind). BUT, in the LSU v. USC game the players, coaches and the FANS stepped it up SIMULTANEOUSLY. It was an awesome experience. Sometimes you don't have to win to be proud of how you played. LSU played as a team and a family that night.

I was about 16 or 17 years of age and as many here I have been to so many awesome games in Death Valley, but NOTHING could ever come close to equaling that game, and that unbelievable atmosphere. I still get goose bumps when I think of it. I have said this before when I pass on from this life,, one of the things I will ask our heavenly father is to allow me to reexperience that game again just like it was. This was a once in a life time experience, I got lucky and experienced the greatest football game in history. Any tiger fan who was there will know immediately what I am talking about.

You know ... there are some things in life that are not all about a W and an L. This game without a doubt was the greatest show of love and devotion to our great LSU TIGERS and TIGER Stadium there has ever been. And yes one poster earlier said it like it is, "you would of had to have been there to understand"
Greatest night of my life as for as sporting events geaux. Come to think of it, it may rank in the top 5 exp. in my life.
