I mostly felt sorry for Tulane last night.

The band had like 52 people. The band, like the football team, tried...they were just ineffective and out manned by a far superior band and team.

I applauded the effort the band made.

What's with the piss bombs? Like seriously, grow up a little and show some class.

their band was really pitiful. HS bands that size would blow them out of the water.

The higher post counts mean you spend more time on the rant - >
The more time you spend on the rant indicates that you like this place (and maybe the ranters as well?) ->
You are one among (and of ) the ranters.

This has nothing to do with intelligence (perceived or otherwise), lucidity of the post, relevance of the content or even the possibility of a cogent argument.

They were awesome. Would have been better if they had actually played.

Intelligence should hopefully remind its possessor that civility is better than pointing out non-important gramatical errors.

Civility is a good thing anywhere and everywhere in life - the big problem in the rant though is that we view anyone with a low post count similar to the way we would view a junkie or a drunk outside the 7-11 i.e. as a person with little or no credibility.

On an unrelated note - why is it uncivil if someone pointed out a correctable mistake or flaw? ( in a civil manner of course). Mistakes propagate faster than proper usage, often becoming the norm and because of this we lose subtlety and hence the power of the language and its words.

ETA: I apologize for this horrible thread-jacking to complain about pet peeves

The baby blue on their uniforms was putrid. That isn't their school color. The coordinator for that should be shot.

Other than that, I actually take my hat off to the Tulane band. They came out and represented their school well.

IMO they were small, didn't play that well, and the Thriller dancing was hokey. The beginning of the show highlighted what seemed to me to be a pretty weak dancer. But I do agree that the baton twirler did well.

Well, at least they DID have the Nads to go ON the field with an embarrassingly small 50 members, instead of just sitting in the stands. They actually realized it was October 31st too, so they played something a little Halloween related. I like some of the West Side Story music, but NOT on Halloween. I would have pulled out the theme from the movie "Halloween", and had a guy in a Micheal Myers mask slashing a mock Tulane mascot. Something like that. They missed a golden opportunity to do something creative......

Everything about Tulane is just sad. I did feel sorry for them and their band. I really want this traditional game to continue but I guess we will have to wait.

What was so bad about Tulane's band?
There were only about 20 of them, they had on the wrong colors (they were blue, not green), and their twirler stood in the corner of the south endzone and twirled constantly as if suffering from a mild case of OCD.
