O thinks there's this perfect world where there's a top OC out there that will run exactly what he wants, it'll be wildly successful and that guy will be easy to work with. Basically he wants the OC version of Aranda (someone who the previous HC hired BTW). That's very rare to find, and even with Aranda there's a price to pay; he almost makes as much as the HC. I'd rather he find the guy that's talented and find a way to mesh the personalities. That's part of being a leader. Instead what I think he does is looks for personalities that won't challenge him. He doesn't want more leaders, he wants followers.
Total speculation.
It's necessary to have strong personalities who will speak up and tell the boss what he needs to hear instead of what he wants to hear. It's another thing entirely to have to put up with "subordinates" who won't accept their role(s), if that's what happened. If someone's causing more trouble than he's worth, again if that's what happened, then the "leader" might have little choice but to tell him to toe the line or leave.

Role? He was brought in to run half the team. And that’s what all of us thought he would get to do. That was the entire appeal of this CEO model. O was going to “let his coaches coach.” How many times did we hear that?
Imagine his disgust when he has to put up with some d-line coach telling him how to run his offense. Who wouldn’t be pissed if they were lied to. He wasn’t supposed to be just another subordinate.

He did "let his coaches coach," then decided that wasn't working.
Nobody knows what went on behind closed doors except the guys who were there, and they can't talk about it. But whether you, I, Canada or anybody else likes it or not, the boss is still the boss and has to do what HE thinks is best. If that means deciding he made a mistake and trying to fix it, then that's his right and responsibility. If Orgeron saw that Canada wasn't working out and likely never would, then what else was he supposed to do? I'm sure, he, you, I and everybody else would rather be fired for doing what appears best than cowering in a corner waiting for the inevitable.
No matter what his title, Canada's job was to do what was best for the team and understand that he didn't have the final say. He might not have liked it and I can't say I would have, either, depending on what promises were made, but that's the bottom line. It looks like Canada was not only too big for his britches, but thought he didn't need to even to wear any. No coach, manager, president, general or any other leader should have to put up with that!

I would bet it was really good, football wise. Steve had to be physicall separated fromCam Cameron a couple times because Cameronwoyldnt stand up to Miles.

Back in 2013 South Carolina was playing GA in weeks 2. Ga offense was man handling the SC defense. Two SC defensive assistants got into a fist fight on the sidelines during the game. After the game at the press conference a reporter asked Spurrier what he thought about the altercation and he said “at least they care”
Sounds like Steve “cares”.

That goes for a lot of people that are really good at their chosen profession. Surgeons, physicists, CEOs are frequently jerks. Canada has clashed on other staffs, but he's also meshed well on others. It's incumbent on the HC to make it work IMO. Dealing with difficult personalities is part of building a championship team. It's not going to always be a kumbaya type of atmosphere.
It doesn’t matter what profession you’re in, a bad apple spoils the bunch. Canada has worn out his welcome everywhere he’s been. That’s why with so many major OC vacancies this year he still fell all the way to Maryland, a job beneath Vanderbilt.
