Not great. VERY few on staff got along with Canada, and that was a big part of the problem. Dude was just a pompous arse.

This.

Tell you what. I'll go ahead and craft a generic statement for the OP to run with.

STEVE ENSMINGER: "Coach Canada is a fine human being and excellent football coach. We formed a lot of cornerstones to build upon in the year he was here; good lessons and fundamental football that our team will never forget. I consider him a friend and wish him unbridled success in Maryland. Further, may God bless you and may God bless the United States of America.."

Really, where are you going with this?

What impact does this have on the season?

Ensminger thought he was a douche and did not have a good scheme.

They probably didn’t know how to react to a competent coach

Went to a bbq with the coaches last fall and Ensminger gets up to get beers for everyone. Everyone but Canada.

That goes for a lot of people that are really good at their chosen profession. Surgeons, physicists, CEOs are frequently jerks. Canada has clashed on other staffs, but he's also meshed well on others.

It's incumbent on the HC to make it work IMO. Dealing with difficult personalities is part of building a championship team. It's not going to always be a kumbaya type of atmosphere.

That's very interesting because I heard the players loved him, especially for his candor.
