how LSU and other small market teams will compete with the larger markets on this NIL landscape

Especially with Oregon’s Nike money and large national brands like USC, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

You may wanna read up on what the Sips are doing. Reportedly 100k per scholly player, and an additional 50k for every scholly offensive lineman.

It's gonna be a HUGE arm's race and make CFB even more uneven from the players/non-players.

Not one player has stated they were leaving because of nil. You proliferating unsubstantiated rumors started by people with no knowledge of the inner workings of the football program.

Some of these people need a job or a hobby or just a life in general

I’m surprised Gerry Lane, Levis Mitsubishi and Brian Harris Autoplex aren’t throwing money at LSU players.

That's been the rumor on Ricks transferring. He was upset at the deals Stingley was getting.

No they're not. TAMU is the one doing it right. They're getting whoever they want in recruiting right now. They're cheating but doing it the smart way where they can't get caught.

Zero ROI.

It needs to be part of the donor network and managed programmatically using non-profits, holding companies, etc. We have to do this while regulations are behind and the NCAA is fledgling. UT has a lot more $ and they are using it intelligently.

Return on Investment.

If you tie up your branding with a 18 year old knucklehead it could damage your brand. No one is buying an F250 because Brennan is driving one. It makes no sense from an advertising standpoint. Not even on a local level. The type of deal needed to sway a huge 5 star is not gonna be chump change and a few car dealerships won’t move the needle in the new arms race.

does it really matter whether or not people are in favor of it? It is what it is. People who think NIL is no big deal have their head buried in the sand. You can believe players and recruits know which schools fans are hooking up players and which ones aren't.

I wouldn't expect players or recruits to state that that is the reason where they are going, but money talks and 50k or 100k a year is a lot better than zero k per year.

Exactly, the difference between our secondary having Eli Ricks & Jacoby Matthews next year and having Neither next year is getting with the times, everyone will eventually, why not now!?!?

You need to think much bigger than local eateries to fund NIL on a mass scale for LSU.

It’s sad how far we are falling behind A&M on the recruiting front. Not good.

Could this potentially sink LSU into mediocrity?
Baton Rouge is a small market and I’d imagine the athletic department doesn’t have as many big time donors like some of the other programs.

I could be way off base but just a thought.

Obviously Lsu, was hoping the deals happen organically with local companies. They were ahead of that situation but the game changed.

I contend if the deal is organically made, say between a car dealership and a player, that the deals will be small.

On the other hand, Texas, Bama, and aTm are currently changing the game with big money offers. That many five stars aren't picking aTm without big money.

For a smaller market team like LSU to keep up they are going to need a group of business men to come together and model the funds the other schools are doing. LSU is going to have to pool funds together in order to keep up with the biggest money spenders.

TAF should be in a good position to start a non profit that guarantees payment like Texas is doing.
