Take the ball or defer?

OU has scored on every first drive this year so it’s crucial to get them early. We need to take the ball and establish the tone

How is it you can said "kick" and the other team gets the ball at both halves, but when you said "receive" you don't get it both times?

Why not just simplify the rule and have "kick" mean we obviously defer.

I'm in insurance and I don't buy my leads to sit on them and wait for my competition to call them first.

Take the ball and score. Make OU catch up.

Defer.

Make them go three and out.

Possess the ball last in the first half, score with little to no time left, score on the first possession in the second half. Gotta pull that Belichick on them.

If you win the kick it means you get to decide to start the game with the ball or kicking the ball, you can also defer this decision the 2nd half. If you defer to the second half the opposing team now gets to decide who gets possession to start the game rather then the 2nd half.. because the opposing team won’t have the option in the 2nd half they always choose to receive (knowing the team that won the coin toss will always want the ball in the 2nd). If you win and chose to kick instead of defer, the option to choose who kicks/receives stays with the opposing team for the 2nd half where they will always choose to receive resulting in them receiving twice.. in short you always want to elect to receive the ball or defer... never to kick

You win the toss. Your choice is (i) receive, (ii) kick, or (iii) defer your choice to the 2nd half. If you choose (i) or (ii), then the other team gets to choose in the 2nd half. If you choose (ii), the other team will almost certainly choose (i) in the 2nd half, so you kick twice. If you choose (iii), you will surely receive in the 2nd half, regardless of what the other team elects to do in the 1st half. If you choose (i), then the other team will choose (i) in the second half in virtually all cases. If the other team does choose (ii) in the 2nd half, you get to receive twice.

Give me an example of any mother flucking coach in the history of fb who turned to an assistant late in the first half and said "HOT DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!we get to KICKOFF to start the 2nd half, could we be any motherfLucking luckier?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

You always want the ball to start the 2nd,PLEASE STOP WITH THIS BULLSPIT.

This rule about saying "kick" is the dumbest rule in football.
