In the spring game he played DE with his hand in the dirt. It may have just been out of necessity, since we had so many guys up front out with injury. I always considered him an edge guy, playing the position Divinity played this past season. However, from watching the spring game, he did appear to have added some bulk. He’s listed at 235, but I’m pretty certain that is last years weight. To me he looked closer to 250, which is a bit small to play on the DL in the SEC. It would be nice if he could bulk up to about 275 and add even more depth to our DL. The more the merrier...

Fonua is another one that is kind of an in between type player like Cherry. He’s listed at 264 so he wouldn’t have as hard of a time bulking up and adding weight. Our 2 deep rotation on the DL is solid, but I’m hoping Fonua and Cherry have both grown into DE’s instead of OLB. I think our OLBer positions are in good shape.

Cherry will still be at buck but he's much bigger than last season. In the 260s IIRC.

He's more of a DE in a 5 2, but too small for a 3 4. Cherry has very good athletic ability and will probably stay at olb. Do you know where online I can find the 2019 spring game? I've searched YouTube and can't find it there.

Cherry was reportedly at 260 in the Spring. I don't know what weight they want him to play at.

Here’s a link to the spring game. I got lucky and found it when it was still public on YouTube.

Don't know where he will end up , but he has outstanding speed. I seem to remember him running anchor on winning relay team in high school, (400m. I think.)

Great talent.

I did not realize this. Well, he is only 20 to 30 pounds shy of being in range of ideal weight for the DE in a 3 4. I figured they would groom him to replace Chassion.

I think he was overrated coming out of high school. Don't think he will ever start. Too small to play DE in a 3-4 and not explosive and instinctive enought to play LB.

Is this really a question? He was brought in to play the same role as Arden Key. You’ll see him in both a two-point stance and three-point stance. Where’s the confusion coming from?

Because OLBer and DE are two totally different positions. You won’t see Divinity or whoever mans the OLBer position opposite Chaisson, with his hand in the dirt. Just like we won’t see Lawrence standing up on the edge. I was wondering whether Cherry will bulk up and give our DL some more depth, or stay around 240lbs and be an edge rusher. No confusion I assure you...

too small to play DE, not exlposive enough to play Lb
so make him a Fullback like JC Copeland

My favorite fb of all time. Dude never got the ball enough feel like if he was utilizes more he would have been given a larger chance in the pros... I really though he was going to make it couldn't believe he bounced around only two years. Thought for sure he would be a practice squad warrior and get his shite and keep it.

I have been wondering how Cherry was developing. After reading this thread, all I know is that he gained weight. Anyone know whether he has maintained his speed, quickness, for example? Just curious.
