This is a flat out pretentious statement. Cliff is suspended and DT didn't do anything.

Truth hurts doesn't it?

Face the facts, your coach is gonna look the other way.

You say, but DT didn't do anything wrong. He is a scholarship football player, the freakin QB of the team and he doesn't have the sense to stay away from people that are driving 118MPH and smoking weed? More is expected of him, and he has done nothing to show that he can handle the added responsibility. He is supposed to be a leader for the team.

Was the amount of weed over the legal minimum there? If so this is what should have happened

quote:

Finally, knowingly maintaining, visiting or even staying at a place where people are using, storing or selling marijuana is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $6,250 fine. However, if the amount of marijuana is one ounce or less, and it is just kept or used on the premises, this offense is a violation punishable only by a fine.

Yeah, he is a leader. He showed poor leadership. Suspension isn't even a question here.

No, I knew Darron was in the car when this went down. It was reported already. The only revelation today is that the officer smelled maurijuana. I am also sure that Chip was aware this as well.

They didn't find any in the car from what I've read, but still, I'm pretty sure no one in that car got a fine. OSP looks like a bunch of corrupt fools in this scenario (and yes that is coming from someone who lives in La. which is saying something). I'm sorry but if these guys weren't Oregon football players, no chance in hell they are let go after all this stuff combined.

Game taken down on the offshore sportsbooks.

Bisonduck you are delusional to think a suspension of some kind is unwarranted and to compare the RS situation to this one.

We have suspended a QB for using a fake ID in a casino. But I guess that is much more morally reprehensible than riding in a car going 118 while pot is being smoked. But it wasn't his fault

Of course, OSP called the supervisor to deliberate. If you read the story, he even asks the supervisor what would he do if they weren't football players. John Canzano is one of our worst critics and he even thinks that no suspension is warranted.

No the impermissible benefit aspect was all I was comparing. The car was rented from an employee and Harris told the cop it was his girlfriend. This is the only aspect of the story that has relevance at this point.

Also, your star quarterback did multiple offenses before getting kicked off the team. Darron will not be suspended. Btw, I called for Cliff's suspension on here.

I read that, but we never hear what that supervisor said, for all we know he could be a UO alum and is letting them off easy for being football players.

Of Harris or Thomas? Harris should no doubt be suspended, I can see a case for suspending Thomas, but I could also see the case for not.

Frankly, what Kelly does should depend on how he thinks Oregon is going to fare in the Lyles mess. If he thinks Oregon is going to get a hand slap (allowing him to remain coach) then he needs to take some action to clean things up because Oregon's reputation is getting pretty tarnished by this string of incidents. He should suspend everyone in the car for a game just to send a message. He can always make an excuse that for DT the LSU game has special meaning and allow him to postpone his game suspension. On the otherhand, if he thinks this Lyles mess is going to cost him his job he should say "frick it", reinstate everyone, and try to win it all before he gets booted.

The case for suspending him is being in the car. They were all riding down together from a parade that they attended as a team function. Harris decided to drive 118...last I checked it wasn't a student driver car where Darron could brake and slow the car down.

You can really tell the regional difference/attitude towards pot between LA and OR from this thread. Tigers, cops in Oregon treat the smell of weed like an open 5-hour energy bottle--they don't care.
