Back when I was playing ball, all they had was lemon lime and orange, and it came in glass bottles…
10K was the goat, don’t know why Kentwood screwed the pooch on that, it was a good product.

10k. The memories that evokes.
But seriously, frick anyone who buys Gatorade and contributes directly to Florida. They get 20% of Gatorade.

My dad developed the 10-K powder as the liquid drinks came out first. Kentwood was purchased by Suntory Corp. and the Japanese owners discontinued the product line.

That figures…. Can’t believe the stopped production, they should’ve pushed it more. Fun fact: 10K had a product placement on Seinfeld, you could see it in the background in most of the gym spots.
10K’s fruit punch was the best…. The iced tea flavor was great as well, only brand to have that flavor…

10K also had a commercial/industrial side as the powder was sold by the pallet to offshore oil rigs for workers. At one time, over 30 colleges and their respective sports teams were sponsored by 10K, including the Sugar Bowl and Senior Bowl.
The #1 buying demographic were kids aged 8-16. My dad negotiated a contract with Nickelodeon for commercials and advertising. The target audience was kids which is why the logo “Really Really Good Stuff “ came about. Kids watched Nickelodeon and asked their parents to buy 10K. I still have lots of coolers, squirt bottles, wind breakers, watches, sweatshirts, etc… with 10K stuff. Sadly we’re laying my dad to rest this morning as he passed from a 5 yr battle with throat cancer.

Oh man, my condolences…
Sounds like your dad was a good man….
Kentwood really screwed up with that product, I guess there was too much competition with the big guys to keep up…

Marty Broussard, legendary trainer at LSU, developeded the first sports drink in 1958 and called it Bengal Punch. The story goes that he gave a sample of Bengal Punch to the Florida trainers and the next thing you know? Gator Ade is born. Of course Forida will never admit to their skullduggery.
Bengal Punch later became known as QuickKick.

In the Gulf South region , 10K outsold Gatorade by a wide margin. Gatorade tried to buy 10K as the then ownership told ‘em to kick rocks.
Suntory (Japanese) bought Kentwood Spring Water and later sold 50% ownership to Danone (company from France). New ownership decided to grow 10K to the California and the east coast market. 10K started losing money and the owners pulled the plug. Investors who had zero clue about the local market and the sports energy drinks made horrible business decisions. Business 101 on how to destroy a profitable LA made product.

Gatorade is PepsiCo. Powerade is CocaCola.
CocaCola > Pepsi
CocaCola > Pepsi

Gatorade is king, as we all know. The sales, the market share, everything.
It’s a pity lsu uses inferior Powerade, but it is what it is
