"Tech's stadium only holds 30k..."
Techdawg, The I-Bowl wasn't held in Tech's Stadium (a/k/a "The Little House").
That Tech has only a 30k capacity and cannot manage to come close to a sell out for the vast majority of it's home games speaks volumes: small penis

I've seen your post. They don't ban you because you never call them on their BS.

You will get banned quick if you go the Ragin pagin and refer to ULL by their name. Be sure to use UL or Univ. of Louisiana not their name less you be banned. ULL is a bigger wannabe than Tech.

You are correct sir. I've just never had the urge to post a reply to those crazies. The most vocal people over there are conspiracy theorist.

I'm a Tech grad and not an LSU fan. Jealousy? Maybe so. It's kind of like if you own a convenient store right across the street from Wal Mart.... hard to compete. More of a thorn in our side than a jealousy issue.
It is very annoying to see Tech grads supporting LSU more than Tech also. I just don't get. I was an LSU fan before I graduated from Tech, but now I'm a Tech fan since I'm an alumni.
Why would an LSU grad support Alabama after they graduated?

thats an awful comparison. Bama is on our level, tech is not. If i went to tech, I would root for LSU and not give a shite about Tech's sports because they play at a small level instead of a national one. LSU is Louisiana's team, so it makes perfect sense people who go to Tech would pull for LSU. Why would you want to go to a Tech football game against Nevada with 8,000 people in attendence when you can go down to Baton Rouge and watch LSU play a top 10 team in front of 92.000 people.

Would you become a West Monroe HS fan over your Class A school because WM is so much better than your school?
Posted on 4/17/09 at 1:17 pm to TigersRuleTheEarth
Can't speak on behalf of Tech. But I'm a ULL grad and bleed purple and gold. There are tons of Tiger fans in Lafayette. The second largest fan base city in Louisiana, behind Baton Rouge. We adore our Tigers over here and pull for our Cajuns to do well. Tech does get on my last nerve, though. Must be the fact that they lean towards Cowboys over Saints. Their colors suck wet nuts too......

There's nothing to gain by playing these games. Win, and that's what is supposed to happen, but lose and it's a big deal. A school like Tech can't afford to start losing recruits to these smaller schools.
Herein lies the reason for this discussion. The Tech fans that believe this shite live in their own little, delusional world. The sad thing is they truly believe it. I like how ULM is a smaller school when compared to LTU. Let's compare: enrollment about the same; stadium capacity about the same (Malone much better though); Ruston market much smaller than Monroe, although LTU will try to claim S'port which is 70 miles away vs Monroe which is 30 miles away.
quote:
Isn't Northwestern dII anyways?
Either this is a LTU fan's attempt to belittle another university by trying to put them in a lower division or you are just football/college athletics ignorant. I'll help you out though, NSU is Div 1-AA, now known as Football Championship Subdivision.
quote:
I know ULM still claims they are division I, but that's only because every year they play Arkansas in Little Rock and the Razorbacks let them call it a home game so they can get their attendence figures up so they won't drop down to dII.
Yes we do claim to be D1 because we are. What is hard to understand about that? How many games does LTU play in S'port and count as home games? The IBowl is not your home stadium. What's the difference? I know, ULM is playing in another state and claiming a home game. Pretty smart if you ask me, it's not breaking the rules.
quote:
I guess the only thing LaTECH and ULM have in common is that they've both beaten Alabama.
Yes, but we beat them 2 seasons ago, you beat them 10 years ago. Other things we have in common: we both have problems filling our stadiums, but ULM has more potential to draw fans from the Monroe area, LTU is probably about maxed out; we both suffer due to LSU's success; we both will never be able to compete with LSU on a regular basis in any sport, it is just that LTU fans live in that other world I alluded to earlier. Most ULM fans, me included, are realistic and accept the position of the university.

Just as a matter of curiosity, how often and when was the last time Tech sold out AND had a full stadium at home (The Little House)?
The answer to that question tells you alot about how realistic Tech's pretensions to be a big time program are, IMHO...
By that yardstick you can tell how bigtime their own fanbase considers them to be, without reference to the opinions of competitors...

No LSU is not. LSU is one of LA's college teams. The Saints are the only team that can be called Louisiana's team.

Because I graduated from Tech and couldn't care less what goes on at LSU.

I don't know that they've ever had a sellout. Maybe they have. I'm sure they had a good crowd last year for Miss St. I do know that for both ULM and LTU the biggest crowds have been when they played each other. Makes you wonder why we aren't playing each other every year?
Here are some attendence stats for all the parties involved from the NCAA:
Avg. Attendence (2008)
SEC - 76,844
WAC - 24,475
SunBelt - 18,584
LSU - 92,383 (#7 nationally out of 119)
ULL - 21,468 (#88)
ULM - 19,519 (#96)
LTU - 18,020 (#105)

I assume Tech's home attendance numbers were inflated last yr. as a result of having that I-Bowl team. That explains how they climbed all the way to #105 (of 119).
Anybody else know if La. Tech Fighting Small Penises (Penes? Peni?) have ever sold out at the Small House?

LSU is the only one that has a following outside of their local region. There are no Tech plates in Texas or Mississippi. I'd have to diagree with you there.

I understand this point of view. It's not like EVERYBODY has to be an LSU fan.

I would venture that definitely New Orleans metro and possible Shreveport/Bossier metro would have something to say about that based on population.

Looks like La Tech is sucking hind tit. I'd like to hear their excuse for drawing smaller crowds than two in state schools they don't consider worthy enough to schedule.

LSU has the most alumni, but they are not the only team. They are the only team in the SEC, but they are not the only team that plays at the highest level of competition.

From reading this thread, if you support another school in the state and don't support LSU too, then you are a "bad fan." Does that seem slightly arrogant? I'm sure half the people who say this have never stepped a foot on LSU's campus.

ULL and ULM are worthy to be on Tech's schedule. Tech's ultimate goal is to get into CUSA. Dooley is trying to schedule CUSA teams and build relationships there. The other option is to sign 1 year Home-only games and ULM and ULL would not benefit from that, so we schedule Nicholls, UCA, SE La, etc... for those games. We also need to schedule 2 money games each year and ULL and ULM can't pay the kind of money that LSU and Auburn can.

I haven't gotten that from this thread at all. What I have gotten from the thread is that it is OK for someone to go to another school in the state and support LSU, just as it is OK to got to LSU and support LA Tech. The argument I always hear from Tech and ULL extremist is that if you go to either school, you shouldn't support LSU, which is ridiculous. I could care less whether some one is or is not an LSU fan.
I would agree with you that LSU has many fans that have never set foot on the campus in Baton Rouge. Every large state school does. I can also attest and agree that many of these fans tend to be more "fanatical" and can give other LSU fans a bad name at times.
