One thing I love about the SEC is how everyone comes together to honor our armed forces whether it's a dedicated seat to our MIA/POW at Kroger Field in Lexington Kentucky or the Soldier Salutes at Alex Box.

I don’t understand why you’re here. This isn’t even a uniquely american thing. Every nation does this. I’m currently living in the countryside of Panamá and they start every week of school with their anthem and people swell up with pride for their nation when they hear it. Yeah it’s just a song, but songs have meaning and even social purpose. The purpose of the anthem is to remind us of our unity of Americans, obligations to one another, and honor those gave their lives to create and continue the country and it’s ideals. A sports game is a good moment to honor that cuz tensions can get so high, so “us vs them” so it’s kinda nice to start that by remembering that we are united by our common nationality and American values

But speech aside, wtf?? like does anything slow or “boring” to you mean that to everyone else it should be devoid of meaning? Should every single country stop playing their anthem before games and have no pride and no desire to remember what unites them as a people? Good lord what a miserable take on life
