You guys make a good case that LSU vs. Alabama in 1997 was Baseball's Game of the Century.

Yes. That series win was not nearly as meaningful as we thought.

Which is ironic considering the year before, it was the Georgia series when we started getting our shite together.

Well I really wanted to see LSU finish the season with at least one home run in every game that year. Danny Higgins handled that with the first at bat of the game and I was like, "Well, that's done with."

Very true.

When we met in the NC game both teams were 56-13 and it was the first time the #1 and #2 seeds actually met in the final game of the year.

That was actually the first year they did national seeding. So yeah, it was the first time that the top two seeds met.

Not trying to be an arse.

I get what your asking but I do not think you can apply the "Game of the Century" to college baseball. LSU v Kentucky this weekend is big but they play 3 times. Which game is bigger Friday or Sunday? Some say Friday b/c it stars the weekend off right. Other say Sunday, but that really depends on if it a rubber game or not.

Also baseball has so many games. Even if we lose 2 or 3 this weekend that does not mean we are done for Omaha, Hoover, or even a regular season title.

Finally the "Game of the Centruy" branding is about hype. Just do not see that much hype about 1 game in baseball.

I see what you are saying.

Saturday is the biggest game. Winning on Saturday means: 1. Winning the series, and or 2. setting up the sweep, or 3. Keeping the series alive.

Meh. You could make an arguement for any game. Just my 2 cents.

Sure. No comparison to football. I get that.

But why not name a Game of the Century for baseball? Even if you really mean "Series of the Century".

Can't believe no one has pointed out that any game before the 2000 season was last century, and therefore does not count as Game of the Century for this century.
