If not for Nick Saban, Les Miles would be talked about in terms that have been reserved for NS.
No - the presence of Saban at Bama may bring Les's shortcomings into focus but Les is generally described in 2013 just as he was in '05 and '06 (before Saban lied). We too often play down to our competition, make lots of unforced mistakes, and fail to (within reason) reach our full potential.
Les is a very good coach but he has broken my heart a many of time.

I get your overall point the LSU often slogs through ugly wins against mediocre teams, but this is a bad example. You have to remember that 2005 team played about 10 games straight with no bye. The year started out hectic and the players could never get a rest and find their legs til the Peach bowl.

If I could pick only one it would be focus. It is almost a pleasant surprise now when LSU plays well and crisply for 60 minutes. To do this for a whole season is almost incomprehensible.

For sure. It was obvious the guys were worn out during the CCG in ATL. With rest, they completely destroyed top 10 Miami.

Name me one team that this isn't the case.

Which part? A full game or a full season? LSU didn't put two good halves together in the OM/Furman/UA/Hogs games. A whole season? FSU seemed pretty steady for most of it. UA I think. Might be some others.

18-22 year old kids....you don't see any other teams able to be consistently BCS teams until Saban lands at Alabama with his "all about the process" and recruiting there. USC had dominate recruits but couldnt be as consistant like Alabama and they were in an easier conference. Top teams look great one week and then the kids seem to take a week off and lose a game they shouldn't all over the place. I know I felt like Ole Miss was going to be a win and I bet the team did too no matter what coaches said. Saban and his "process" and easy schedule to championships luck as well have made us itch for more but if he hadnt done that run the last few years and we had the Championship in '11 all would be right in the world. All will be fine if we land the recruits we all hope for this year.

why are you posting on here? Are you bored with your own program being in shambles. We are dominating it just so happens the SECW is the toughest division in college football. We are fixing to have our third ten win season in a row. While yall are losing to the likes of BYU and Baylor...lol. Get the frick off of here

When you have great talent playing on emotion, they can beat anyone. When they don't have that emotion driving them and the don't have discipline and good habits, that same talented teams plays average.

We could possibly have 8 leave in this draft. We had 9 leave last year
I'd love to see you tell a 22 year old or younger who most likely grew up in a poor, shitty situation where football was his only conceivable route to success in life to turn down millions of dollars sitting on a platter in front of him, all because you want the team you like to be good next year. Get real bro...

Head coach
Players leaving after a couple seasons , we are rebuilding this season , but we are so proud of our Ex Players in the pros . Right ?? Maybe we should just have Semi-Pro instead of college sports

Once again, it appears that we have many in our fan base who expect, if not demand, that our football team win every game in every year. Any loss is completely unacceptable. Given the fallout of the loss to Auburn, many Alabama fans mirror us in this regard.
This is the perspective: No one else's team is any good. None have any players who are candidates for the NFL draft. None of the other players on other teams play hard enough to beat us. It is contended that we lose because of our coaching, purely and simply.
If a player misses a tackle, then he shouldn't be in the game at all - and that's coaching. That the fellow he tried to tackle is pretty darn good does not factor into the equation.
I get flustered at times just like everyone else. But, damn. It's only a game. No one's life is at stake.
Who would we get to replace Coach Miles? Would that person even attract the quality of players that our current coaching staff does? Why would anyone of merit accept a job here, given the ridiculous comments that are often made on this forum about our coaches?
Toward answering the OP's question, what do you mean by "consistently dominating"? Sounds like neither you nor a bunch of others would even by happy if we go 15-0 but don't win every game by a 40-0 score. You're all crybaby jerks.
Anyway, we're about to get into basketball season followed by baseball. I'm sure that we'll see all of you whining and complaining during those seasons, too.

Agree 100% with the OP. This is the LSU of new, 10-2 don't cut it anymore. Sorry, go be mediocre somewhere else.
So Les has to do better than a .833 winning percentage or he's mediocre?

Try lack of an offense for 4 years. Even with that we could have won one in 2011. With Bama where they are we must step up our national recruiting. Next year will be way down in La and we need to step up to be a top 5 signing class.
