O is a con man and was intentionally trying to get fired to get the buyout.

Front seven getting upfield and controlling the LOS. The additions of Logan and M. Jones on the field has provided more guys who have to be accounted for which also helps the others with their matchups.
The run-blitzes have obviously helped the rushing D, and as an offshoot has put pressure on the QBs which has also helped our younger/inexp secondary.
Hope to see the same aggressive D the next two weeks.

Missing 10 starters - had to simplify and get aggressive

This aggressive style of defense would have been nasty when we had the 2 best CBs in the country. We figured it out too late.

Baskerville looked like Ali Highsmith last night and Clark has been incredible the last 2 weeks.
I suppose those players who were coached by Aranda knew their assignments for a 3-4 defense. Baskerville, Clark, Farrell, and Logan
Makes Orgeron look even more like a simpleton.

Nope. Orgeron wanted to change from a 3-4 defense that won him a national championship to more of a 4-3 defense. However his personnel was better suited to run a 3-4 defense. The last 2 weeks they have resorted back to more 3-4 schemes and it seems to be working. Maybe Orgeron should have stuck with the Dave Aranda defense instead of trying to fix what was not broken.

My theory is that after O found out he’s gone and got his buyout, he said frick it and stopped being part of game planning and now we are seeing what Daronte wanted to do all along.
In other words, Ed is no longer meddling and dictating to the DC what to do.
In part.
The 4-3 approach is ALL Orgeron. He may have hired the DCs, but it was to run O's defense. O wanted a defense that looked like early 2000's USC or early 90's Miami with no thought whatsoever that he (a) may not have the personnel to execute it and (b) the way the game is played offensively has changed drastically since that time.
Once LSU lost all of their 4-3 DEs (Gaye, Anthony, Smith) the DC had no choice but to do something different starting with the Alabama game. Low and behold LSU has suddenly turned into a formidable defense. One that is FAR better than the 4-3 historic fantasy land defense of the past Orgeron wanted...even when LSU had all of their 1st team DEs.
2020 was the first season Orgeron truly began to dictate the on-field approach (He left Aranda alone from 17-19, and he's wholly clueless re: offensive football). The result is that LSU suddenly regressed to one of the worst defenses not just in the SEC, but all of college football. Once Ed was forced, due to personnel losses, out of his terrible approach LSU now looks like the 2nd best defense in the SEC...with mostly backup players!!!!
Ed Orgeron might be the only HC in America where the LESS he is involved in the on-field approach the BETTER the team is. He had a cush position where all he had to do was recruit, hire coordinators who are good at what they do, and get out of the way. He couldn't even fricking handle that! He implemented HIS scheme defensively and immediately turned a program who had twenty years of winning seasons into one that is likely to finish under .500 over the last two seasons!

Now if only the offensive guy would follow suit
