My concern is that 8-4 means a worse bowl draw, which means an easier bowl opponent. Win that bowl game and idiots will be out in force saying “he went 9-4 against a tougher schedule, that shows improvement, blah blah blah.”
Book it.
Can’t wait.

I just posted that the 6-2 record in the SEC was the best since 2012. Miles was 8-5 over in 2014
I said One of the worst. We went 6-2 and ducking 9-4. We lost to a sun belt team, and didn’t win a bowl game.
That’s worse than just about all but 2 of Les’s seasons.

I am betting and giving odds we have more than 6 wins

I may Take the under as an insurance policy. If we go under 6 wins I’ll need something to be excited about.

2008, 2009, 2014, and arguably 2015 and 2016 were all worse or equal to 2017.
So at worst, last season was ranked 6 out of 10 for the last decade and it can be argued that it ranks as the 5th best after 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
Silly exercise, but 2009 was a better season than 2017. All four losses were close and to ranked teams, three of which finished top 10.
Given strength of schedule, 2014 was about on par with 2017 as well. That was probably the best year in SEC history, as opposed to the mess that was 2017 in the SEC.
So at best it’s 7th out of the last 10 years and 8th at worst

When Saban made an SECCG appearance in year 2 at LSU and in year 2 at Alabama, he did not have to coach against the best HC in college football history who was at the winningest SEC football program. Saban had it easier than Miles did or than O does.
so true, also with the "forced" schedule where Bama is a natural opponent always in the West, it seems as if the route to get to the NC game is the same as the route to get to SEC Championship.

the highlightof 2017 was beating a 4 loss auburn team.
Let’s see their losses were to the #2 team, the number #3 team, undefeated top 10 UCF, and us.
Not to mention they beat the #1 AND #2 team in 2017.
Let’s not act like Auburn wasn’t good.

I expect at least 3 losses and will be disappointed with more than 1 loss.

So you gotta give Orgeron credit for the ND game, a game he lost on a fluke play.

“I think we were headed for 6-6”
I get the displeasure with Miles, but there is absolutely nothing in his time at LSU which should lead anyone to do opinion we were headed to 6-6. That’s just a ridiculous assertion based on the man’s 11 year history at LSU. imo

Don't you know, it's all about the overall schedule? Nothing else matters. Only the Wins and Losses.
If there is any way to diminish a counterpoint by twisting the details to make them unfavorable....they will do it.
Auburn lost to teams with a combined record of 47-8.
(12-2, 9-4, 13-2, 13-0)
LSU lost to teams with a combined record of 43-10.
(9-4, 11-2, 13-1, 10-3)

That’s one loss. What about the other three?
Look at the four losses in 2009 and 2017 and the seasons are not even comparable.
LSU was ranked in the top 10 for eight weeks in 2009.
LSU was 24 or lower six weeks in 2017, unranked for three.
2017 is a whole different level of bad from 2009.

A loss is a loss is a loss. There's no credit for losing. There's no runner-up prize.

I thought so too but I was just extending Voodoo's logic. If it works for one coach then it should work for all of them.

Just conveniently ignore one of those losses is the worst margin of victory for LSU in 90 years of playing miss st
And another one is to a sunbelt team, which as a conference is now 1-36 vs LSU.

I don't want to lose any games, but if Bama and Georgia are better this year, and we play our best and lose, we at least can see the team is becoming competent.
If we lose games that we should have won, then it's not.
make more sense?

Mouth breather, I didn't conveniently ignore them and made sure to include those losses and their overall records, 9-4 and 11-2. Cry some more, dawg.
