I'm sure I'll get a bashing for even starting this ludicrous what if thread, but what the hell....

Let's say Dak channels his inner Cammy Cam, and state runs the table and wins the sec title...

If you are still reading and haven't laughed too hard, let's say for s's and g's Harris leads us unbeaten from here on out...

Do we get in the playoff?

I will go to the Sugar Bowl with most of my mom's family and pull for State.

After reading thread title:
Too ludicrous, didn't read.

Won't happen, MSU is ALWAYS good for a MSU moment or two or three per year.

1. That isn't going to happen.
2. If the SEC got two teams in, the "extra" team would have to be Bama
3. The SEac won't get two spots.

You mean, go from a shitty team in 2013 to SEC champs in 2014? In one year's time?

I don't think so. The committee won't like letting non-champions in unless there are enough weak champions.

Apparently nobody understand what a hypothetical is around here.

Yes, if State goes undefeated and we also win out the rest of the way, we both end up in the playoff more likely than not.

I take it you are laughing at your own joke considering Auburn did just that last year...

Maybe with the BCS, but I don't see the committee letting us in without winning the SEC.

I figured my post would draw the correct response. I think it's at least possible that Moo will give the Glumps their toughest game of the year.

Don't be so sure. Some things would have to happen....namely Florida State dropping a game somewhere. If that happens, I think it is very, very possible.....1 Pac whatever team, 1 Big 12 team, and 2 SEC teams....NO ACC or Big 10.

LSU would have won the following games:

@ Auburn
@ Florida
vs Ole Miss
vs Alabama
@ Texas A&M
@ Arky

Plus the argument could be made that LSU not same team with Harris, as when they played Miss State. Can point to how Harris finished State game.

Fwiw, if LSU runs the table, I can't imagine any team outside of the SEC being better...bar none.

Look at our remaining schedule. If we win out, I guarantee you we are in unless there are power 5 undefeated teams ahead of us.

Yeah, it depends on what all the conference champions look like at the end of the season. If one conference gets their champ and an at-large selection into the playoff, that likely means two of the Power 5 conferences aren't represented in the playoff. I just don't see that playing out very often for an at-large SEC team, especially after how "good" the BCS was to the SEC. Though, the previous system showed more than once that winning your conference or division wasn't all that important in the end. Yet to see if that's going to matter to the committee.

Depends on two things: Alabama and luck of the draw. They might want another Mulligan if MSU/Dak runs the table and beats 'em regular season, even if the score is something like 48-0. They'd say it was too close to tell who was really best. Of course, if both MSU and LSU run the table (haha!), it would mean that Bama had 2 losses, one to MSU and one to LSU. Get your heads around that one. But they'd claim they were the best 2 loss team in America and should be in the playoffs. So picture this: MSU, LSU and 2-loss Bama all in the playoff. SEC!
