What in your mind made Towson a pitiful 1AA team?
um, the powerhouse kent state football team boat raced them earlier this year 41-21
the same kent state football team who lost to Kentucky
only the truly elite lose to Kent State

and if the team doesnt win by 50 every game no one is allowed to enjoy a victory.
we've played a mediocre opponent and a bad opponent back-to-back. winning by 20+ for both was reasonable (and 30+ for towson)
how was that not a reasonable expectation?

i consider you a bad fan b/c you have such low expectations of LSU. why do you dislike LSU so much that you can't respect them?

So wait, now it's kosher to start using transitive properties in regards to teams we play in NCAA? I guess only when it's for pessimistic purposes.

am i saying that Kentucky > LSU? no
am i saying that Kent State > LSU? no
i'm saying towson is a shitty team, and losing to kent state is a variable in that
i only added in stuff about kent state before people started crowning them (which is the typical ranter SOP, just like they're crowning towson)

I wonder how many of these posters defending Towson would go apeshit if USC beat them by the same score.

I dont have low expectations I expect them to win every game. But to me a W is a W it doesnt matter if its by 5 or 500 winning is winning. And, I can also respect a team that absolutely does not quit. Those Towson kids didnt quit. When it was 33-9 they could have shut it down and gone into a shell but they didnt they kept comming and that is worthy of respect.

Didn't the PAC 12 either lose a few or barely won against some FCS schools this year? And you still claim they are a good conference.

The whole choice of being a fan of a particular team is an emotional choice made without a logical analysis.
says who?
why?
Now you are just being silly! nevertheless here goes.
If you were a fan of football (college or nfl) for that matter any sport- you would watch the games dispassionately regardless of which team is playing and without desiring a particular outcome (apart from betting). In fact you would desire to watch only selective games spread across the board because of seeing better play/players.
Would you applaud and support both teams equally for their plays and walk away from the stadium or tv with a sense of tranquility - instead ( I assume) you are pumped with joy or depressed.
I am not going to go further into explaining why a fan is by nature biased towards a team because if the above didn't suffice - nothing will.
quote:
that's a job for coaches. your analysis and solutions literally do not matter
You are being silly here again - by debating the necessity of fans exchanging view on the message boards.
Let me explain - If my niece doesn't win the state swimming championships - I am still going to discuss about it with her and my family even though I probably don't understand her strengths or the opponents' as much as her coach does. In fact I do realize that only he can correct her - doesn't stop me from pointing out that maybe she should run more or eat [X] and thinking that she will win the next one.

IT is extremely illogical to try and prove a contrary point in an already biased situation!
not really
The fan situation is innately illogical in its bias and hence your acceptance or refuting of something that is almost axiomatic is irrelevant.

I think it's pretty natural/standard for fans of most teams to make fun of or point out unstellar performances of teams that they either hate or have some kind of rivalry against. I mean of course the rant would blow up if that happened (or as it did for Ala last year, etc.). When it happens to your own team, I don't think it's hypocritical to not point out the unstellar performance of your own team, I think its more of innate quality of some or most fans to make fun of other teams, whilst defending their own.
At the same time, I think its funny that some fans are surprised at or argumentative towards the segment of the fan base who's expectations are for the team to win and not caring about however many points we are supposed to win by or by the manner in which we win. Sorry, if I don't want to spend the day on a forum arguing about the demise of the team, which ultimately has no bearing on how this team perfoms in real life.
Instead, I'll save my "sky is falling" rants for when (inevitably, this season or hopefully the next) we actually do lose. And just enjoy the ride as we win.
It's not that I'm oblivious towards the flaws of the team (and it's rarely that any team has no flaws) or the fact that Towson game was a poorly played game. I just don't ruminate on it as the other segment of fans tend to.
Then again, the Rant wouldn't be such a entertaining read without the different philosophies of various ranters going at each other

They lost at kent state in week one
The winner was never in doubt, just the style points
Towson scored two garbage tds when we were running all sorts of guys in on defense
There are numerous idiots that lost posting privileges last night for being "outraged" and losing their minds all over the scoreboard and the rant.
Lsu (like every other fanbase of every other team in every other sport) has more than its share of vocal minority that would rather be right than see their team succeed
So what

If Bama looked like LSU did the Finebaum show would be more interesting.

The title is indeed misleading/wrong and a lot of folks are having trouble understanding the issue. This game was treated like an extension of the practice/scrimmage with the confidence that they could turn it on at any given point.
It was disappointing to see the struggling offense but then I hope it was because of two things
1 - the 18-20 year old players didn't feel like this game was worth their A effort regardless of how their 50+ coach feels or other 15-75 year old rantards feel on a message board.
This happens to an extent to all teams/players regardless of whether the coach is a perceived hard arse or not.
2 - the coaches/players were trying out different things to see what clicks for the future tough games. This game was always in the pocket - when they were threatened - they retaliated asap.
The success / failure of some of the plays will help them determine things that should be worked on in the practice for the next stretch of games and more so immediately for Florida.
Does anyone honestly believe that Washington is a worse opponent to match up than Towson? These kids are not robots and neither is the coach.
Finally regardless of the wishes of the fans - the coaches are paid only to win and not for style of winning.
It is your prerogative to think and say that this style will lose but results (and subsequently related revenues) show otherwise and that is all that matters to the coach/higher ups.

Keep calling the game from your couch after you see it all unfold.

Georgia's vaunted defense- which is hailed as "having caught up with the likes of Alabama & LSU"- got absolutely SHREDDED by the Tennesse offense (which was inept in the second half of the UF game)- and all I heard was praise for UGA on ESPN.
Same goes for Bama getting outscored 7-6 by Ole Miss in the 2nd half of their cakewalk game.
Both sides of this arguement will get their answers this weekend....
My opinion is most of us will be
