Kiffin is staying at Ole Miss and is currently renegotiating a substantial pay raise. Jon Sumerall is likely going to sign with Florida or Arkansas.

I was given the same answer all five times. Lane Kiffin … and this wasn’t a guess according to 2 of them.
People in a bubble don't realize they're in a bubble. If they keep whispering "Kiffin" in each other's ear and getting the frisson, soon enough it will feel true.

There is so much real estate between now and whenever the next coach is announced. It's like counting on a five-star who has four OVs still lined up (or even if he doesn't). Your LSU coaching search recipe:

* meddling governor from Acadiana who's a try-hard wannabe LSU super fan
* BOS doing that meddling governor's bidding
* interim/future president
* AD
* agents
* coaches and their families
* coaches' current employers who just might want them to stay
* season with unknown unknowns to taste

Stir well and simmer and mais you got a big pot of NOBODY KNOWS.

Man. Everybody here knows someone on the inside.

The inside might as well not exist with how many outside know about the inside.

Well I am on the outside and know nothing but the inside. It is lonely here, but fairly peaceful.

I would love to be wrong, but after the whole Lincoln Riley thing, am not buying this until Kiffin is officially announced. Hopefully, we get someone like Kiffin, Key, or Dillingham. Wouldn’t be mad if it ends up being Sumrall. Just gonna wait and see

I am told this is not going to drive anyone away from taking the LSU job.

That's very presumptuous and IMHO obtuse to say. To think no one would be given at least some potential candidates pause by this circus side show is really IMHO hard to believe. I can't believe anyone can say that definitively.

I can’t doubt Philly after calling BK was canned. Just hard to think of a contract that will work to get Lane that’s not the exact same but higher than the previous

Certainty? No. But Sexton doesn't give two craps about the Governor. At the end of the day, some committee will make a hire and ole Sexton is still licking his chops.

What is Jeff Landry’s buyout? That should be easy to collect.

Option 3

200,000 per year. Multiple incentives. 100,000k to win the whole thing. 50,000 to make it to the natty. 25,000 to make the playoffs. 25% if they fire you.

You went with the two extremes. It will be in the middle you dumb frick

At this point in Lane’s career, I wonder if it’s money or legacy at the forefront of his mind. Dude has money. He doesn’t have a National Title…and he ain’t winning one in fricking Oxford.

I’m not a Lane or die fan. But I wouldn’t be mad if he came to LSU, but by God he better hire a lights out DC.

It's hilarious how many on here speak in absolutes. None of us know who the next head coach will be. Saying something definitely will or won't happen is stupid. Lane leaving Ole Miss for LSU would hardly be shocking.

Lane is not going to La e Ole Miss. Make no mistake, They have wealthy Ole Miss Alumni that will step up big time as well to retain him.

What I want to know is how we plan to get him here before the portal closes, assuming Ole Miss doesn't collapse and makes the playoff.

What's the best case scenario for LSU to grab Lane? OM lose in the first round of the playoffs? If so, Lane would be LSU's Christmas present. LSU would miss the early signing date but would be in time for the portal window.

Key Dates:

2025-26 College Football Playoff schedule:
First Round: December 19-20, 2025
Quarterfinals: December 31, 2025 - January 1, 2026
Semifinals: January 8-9, 2026
National Championship: January 19, 2026

Recruiting:
Early signing period: December 3-5, 2025
Regular signing period: February 4, 2026

Portal:
Main window: January 2–16, 2026

I don't mind Kiffin but I'm not convinced he's the answer either. I think the only major upside I see to him is he's still young and has already shown he can improve/mature over time. He'll also keep the offense fun and good.

That said, this guy keeps getting opportunities and shits the bed everywhere he has been with some pretty good success at Ole Miss. He's still squandering opportunities at Ole Miss though. His team last year should've been in the playoffs. Ole Miss is giving him whatever he wants and he still hasn't gotten over the hump.

Kiffin makes me nervous as hell. I go back and forth on him constantly. I really like some things about him and you could argue maybe he's second best coach in SEC. Can he get you over the hump though? He has like 5 HC jobs already in his young career which is insane. He bounced around worse than a hooker.

Is it also just a coincidence that our interim HC/Recruiting Coordinator and GM also worked for Lane previously?

Buddy

No shite

I was responding to a guy that has posted multiple times we are going to get Kiffin giving him 50% of the value of his contract guaranteed and the rest all in incentives

It was examples of what he was talking about in terms he could understand

And...if we are getting Kiffin it will be closer (or more) to BK's contract than anything remotely resembling what you think
