The 98 Georgia game was pretty sick in that Quincy Carter put on one of the best performances ever by a visiting QB in tiger stadium. On their game winning drive it seemed like our db's would be drapped all over their receivers and he just kept putting it right on their fingertips where only they could catch it. A very tough loss as an LSU fan but to a nuetral observer must have been a great game to watch.

You have quite a bit of almosts, ifs, buts in your scenario which could just as easily be applied to USC's miscues.

Losing to USM in Tiger Stadium - because we knew that the Curley Hallman era was over.
No, seriously: 1979 USC and as a previous poster noted its NOT CLOSE.
That was my first game in Tiger Stadium. At times you could be yelling at the top of your lungs and not be able to hear yourself - I just assumed it was always that way.

My "ifs" consisted of...
--one of the most conservative coaches in football not suddenly gambling on a reverse at the 2 yard line
--not having a questionable offensive pass interference call
--a receiver not dropping a pass in the end zone that went through his hands
Not exactly crazy stuff. We could play what-ifs all day on the interception that gave USC its FG, the missed XP, the phantom holding calls on LSU while USC literally was ripping the jock straps off our guys from behind as they rushed the QB. The Pac Ten refs did USC a lot of favors that night.

Didn't Champ Bailey have something to do with that game? Hated watching him in NFL for years after that game.

2011 Alabama, since everyone in the Milky Way Galaxy except us seems to think we lost.

I thought 2008 Bama was a pretty exciting game. LSU had a was having lackluster season after the 2007 NC season. At that point in the season it was just a question of who would play the winner of Bama/UF in the NC. Anyway, I remember I had some buddies in town that weekend and I was happy that Tiger Stadium came to life and they got a great experience. Bama was #1 at the time and we took them to OT. Otherwise I don't remember a ton about the game except I think there was a huge blocked kick or missed FG by Bama late and the stadium erupted.
ETA - writeup from the game.

for me Arkansas 07 would probably be the best game i have ever watched if I wasn't a LSU fan
This is the only game that made me pissed off.really pissed off. I was all for firing Miles. We had just lucked back to #1 and SE lost to that shite team. It was pathetic. The avg LSU qb threw an int to end the game.

I must agree w the masses on this one. The LSU-USC game I didn't actually "watch" but I did listen to on the radio. That was the norm back then with John Ferguson's booming voice calling the play by play. I was a student then so I don't know why I didn't go. Maybe I was on academic probation or something at the time. Ha! I don't think it was on national TV. My buddy "Big E" played extremely well (as I recall) and actually threw a couple of potential TD passes late in the game that didn't get caught. I don't know if they were catchable or not b/c I never actually saw the game or replay. I do know Leroyal (or was it Leroy?) Jones was a part of the game plan and he played well.
The Georgia game was unbelievable. I invited a good friend from Michigan during my 3 years up north when I was working for Chrysler to come down for an LSU home game experience. UofM was a top-ranked team during those days so he thought Michigan stadium was the bomb. I went to several Wolverine games from 1996-1989 and it was cool to have 100K plus people in one setting on a cool fall afternon but nothing like Tiger stadium on Sat. night! I wanted him to see a good game and man what a game. Quincy Carter was awesome at crunch time and broke the Tiger faithful hearts. Todd McClure's Dad (Leo) invited us to hang out with them pre-game so it was a great time. Unfortunately the outcome was not what we hoped for and the thrill of victory afterwards was not experienced that night nor the best atmosphere in the world after a great LSU victory. Ready for 2012! Geaux Tigers!
