I hate that one. I was there. Htf do u have 200 plus yards rushing from Cecil and we still lose.
That had to be the best rushing performance I have seen in person. Faulk and mealey had a great game against Houston at ts.

I'm gonna say the loss to Houston in 1999 bc that sealed the deal. New coach was gonna happen.
I always liked dinardo too but he just lost it.

Arkansas 07
Only game in I saw in the stadium that year. After the game I turned to my friend and said "That was a great fricking game."
Didn't care about the loss. That game was epic.

deepdeltatiger, you have the answer . There aint do doubt and one of the few times that I remember the Tigers getting a roaring ovation in a losing effort and no one that I can recall bitching about the Tigers play leaving the game. Heck Ive heard more bitching when the Tigers won . Definitely USC in 1979 is the answer.

I also enjoyed 1999 Florida. I'd just boned my gf on the field the Wednesday night before so I was returning to the scene of the crime in triumph.

Auburn 1997 has to be it... back and forth game. Was devastated when we lost, but it was entertaining as hell. The Diesel was amazing... if we only kept feeding him the ball, we win.

The Citrus bowl against Iowa was entertaining as frick if I didn't have a rooting interest.
I wasn't a student yet and as such didn't have a rooting interest, and yeah this was a great game.
I didn't absolutely hate the Auburn game from 2010, but it feels like a push to call it a "good game."

2010 AU was not s good game and wasn't as close as the score. Can made our defense look weak and slow. And our offense was its usual inept self.

A totally fair statement. Looking back now and watching that game again I do enjoy seeing Cam light it up (

Yeah I guess if u just enjoy watching a QB dominate a defense then 2010 AU is a good game to watch.
I was born in 1980 so pre-Hallman games dont register.

1971 14-7 loss to heavily favored and undefeated Alabama.
Charlie Mac's defense held Bryant's wishbone to a season low 214 total yards. The Tide got 0 passing yards since they didn't complete a single pass. The following year (1972) wasn't even close as Bryant opened up the passing game to complement his wishbone.
Here's a link describing the preview and the action of the 1971 game, starting on p 206:

Tulane 1982 because was my first time in Tiger Stadium.
If just re-watching I would say Cotton Bowl vs Texas.

The USC loss in 1979. One of the most exciting, electrifying games ever played in Tiger Stadium.

Check out Ronnie Lott's quote about that game and TS at the end of the article. This guy had quite a career and still points at that game as the greatest he had ever been in.
The article was pretty good, but did have some errors...
It says LSU was unranked going into the game. Not true. We were ranked 19th. After the loss, we moved UP to 17th.
Also, it says that LSU chose to go for two points after the touchdown, but I think that's wrong. We were trying to kick, but a bad snap resulted in the holder (or kicker?) having to gather up the ball and try to convert for two. It wasn't an intentional try for two.
On USC's winning TD, it says the QB rolled out and hit the WR in the end zone on an out pattern. As I recalled, it was a quick pass to the WR basically at the line of scrimmage, and the WR then ran it into the end zone, sort of like the bubble screens that Josh Reed used to be so deadly on.
The article also omits some things that were pretty important at the time...
The account of the FG drive in the second half is missing something. LSU got to the 2-yard line with a first-and-goal, then took about a 10-yard loss on an attempt at a reverse, which ended up forcing us to settle for the FG. Had we just pounded the ball four straight times, we almost certainly would have scored the TD. In this regard, Mac was the Anti-Miles. Whenever he went away from his usual conservative tendencies to gamble with an unorthodox play, it almost always backfired on him.
After USC's first TD to cut the lead to 12-10, LSU had a long pass completion deep into USC territory called back for offensive pass interference. Had that call not been made, we would have had the ball around USC's 15-20 yard line and almost certainly would have at least kicked a FG.
After USC scored the winning TD, there were still about 35 seconds left in the game, and LSU drove quickly to the USC 30. Two passes to the end zone came close to being completed, one of which literally slipped through the hands of our receiver. Of course, but for the mishap on the reverse that forced us to settle for the FG on the earlier drive, OR the offensive pass interference that took away at least another FG, we could have kicked a FG at the end to win it.
USC was lucky as hell to win that game. More than even they know.

Not only that, but Rondell Mealey also had 144 yards on something like 14 carries. Total rushing yardage in that game was around 375-50 in LSU's favor. So, naturally we fricking pass on 3rd and 2 (Tyler was 5-for-21 for 105 yards with 2 interceptions on the night) and punt on 4th and 2 from around midfield with a 4-point lead in the middle of the 4th quarter.
Especially egregious considering how bad our defense was that year, so giving them the ball was all but conceding the game. Carl Reese spent the entire offseason between '96 and '97 figuring out how to stop Florida. He built a defense that couldn't stop anybody BUT Florida. I wasn't sorry to see him go...until I saw what his replacement did in 1998.

USC 1979 without a doubt, unbelievable game and a blast to watch
Yes. No contest. ONLY LSU loss I ever "enjoyed." I, and ever Tiger there, was super proud that night. Game still gives me chills.
Arky in '07? Still chaps my arse to even think about it.
