He's a freshman. In fact, this Rice team is very young. I have little doubt that they'll be a national seed and will end up in Omaha next year, so I hope we see them again.

They are blaming it in on the dirt.

It’s like quicksand out there,” Rendon said. “It’s inches deep.”
Play stopped. A trainer attended to Rendon, rubbing his right ankle.
Benak and Haynes trotted across the diamond. The player who had carried Rice’s offense Friday was carried from the field.
“There’s a lot of wet dirt out there,” Rice left fielder Michael Fuda said. “His foot went down like five inches in the ground.”

I really felt bad for him.
With all the gumbo, jamabalya, crawfish they gave him a hamburger.

I sit in section 121, and didn't actually see the play because everyone in front of me stood up; however, there was a really deep hole around where the catchers set up in the bullpen. Could have been a factor.

random, but we met someone who claimed to be his girlfriend going into the stadium. A .300+ hitter needs a better looking girlfriend than that, and she was acting like a 12 year old spoiled bitch. Trying to lecture LSU Fans who were actually showing her "boyfriend" respect is fricking genius

A gopher hole left over by Minnesota last weekend???

Possibly. So Rendon needs to blame Minnesota.

I don't think the break/sprain debate really matters, because if you fracture your ankle from rolling it over, rest assured, you sprained the shite out of it, too. I speak from experience.

Per my orthopedist with a concentration in ankles, a third degree sprain is usually worse than a fracture unless it was break that required surgery.

well some sprains take longer than that, IE Joe Addai.
The bone will come back healthy and wont have the long term ligament damage you could have otherwise.

Damn that hurts to look at! Bad memories.. damn! At least he is a baseball player with a future. You do this a a few times and your basketball days are numbered.

So a really bad sprain can be worse than a break unless the break is really bad.
This does nothing to refute my earlier statement.

Look at the pic. It's a major sprain that probably also resulted in a stress fracture. However, this type of injury doesn't usually require surgery. I think what the person was saying... is that if it requires surgery, there are some more issues going on, i.e. reconstruction, pins, screws, etc. and that can be worse than a simple fracture.

On avg, you'll be out much longer from a broken bone than a sprained ankle.

Blamed it on the field having 5" of soft sand.

now you're just adding shite.
The bottom line is that it's not better on avg to have a break over a sprain.
The avg sprain does not have a three month recovery time like a broken bone. FACT.
