What happened to Devin White?

I think Aranda's scheme changes this year have made him a completely different player. arden key's departure has required him to change his entire schematic approach this season because no one else is getting it done in the time he's willing to give.
So it looks like his next choice has been to basically give white the responsibility of diagnosing the play, and rushing the passer on some pass plays, or dropping into coverage on others (usually depending on what the back does), all while still attempting to maintain his run game gap responsibilities as well.
The end result is blatantly clear on film - he's had a huge dropoff in performance, it really can't be ignored anymore. It's only even so noticeable in the first place because of how insanely good he was last year. He lived in the opponents backfield every singe game last year. It was one of the most dominant seasons I had ever seen by a college MLB
This year, he is consistently getting blocked out of the play by a single guy. Like a lot. Even by tight ends. He's playing back on his heels and waiting for the play come to him. And when he rushes, even when he gets to the quarterback, he's somehow missed the sack about five times, and none of them even against mobile quarterbacks. I've never seen a dropoff like this in a guy's third year, so I think it has to be scheme related.
He's just being asked to do too much, and the end result is game film that's gone from Mcshay having him as the #1 mlb in the country, to barely being a top 5 player on his own team. You can't interpret a play and handle so many different responsibilities and still play downhill and attack the line of scrimmage, it's impossible
We desperately need to find some pass rushers
ETA: Lol at the people saying they're sending 2-3 guys after him every play. just look at the first two drives alone:
1st play - run left, no gain. pancaked by the center 1 on 1
2nd play - blitzes, no impact. complete pass
3rd play - delayed blitz, hurries the pass, incomplete
4th play - play action, blitzes, blows by the qb. incomplete pass
5th play - blitzes, no impact
2nd drive
1st play - run right, but he blitzes the A gap is handled by the right guard. holding uga
2nd play - draw middle 12 yds, blocked by the right guard 1on1, no impact
3rd play - draw middle 18 yds, blocked by the TE 1on1, no impact
4th play - draw middle 17 yds, cut by the LG 1on1, no impact
5th play - run left 2 yds, assisted on the tackle
6th play - draw middle 10 yds, blocked by the TE 1on1, kind of assisted at the end, but not really an impact
7th play - qb sneak
8th play - run left 8 yds, got caught up in the wash, no impact
9th play - run middle 7 yds, blocked by the center 1on1, no impact
10th play - run middle no gain. shed the block but DT made the tackle
11th play - incomplete pass. delayed blitz, probably hurried the throw
12th play - incomplete pass. dropped into zone.
So that's 9 plays he was run directly at or near and on 8 of them was completely taken out of the play by one blocker, and on two of those it was by a tight end. That's not "2-3 guys every play"

Also, what was the deal after the INT when he pushed that dude down?

As Brandon Harris would say, “You dumb.”

Oh, so you mean like a middle linebacker?

If you are studying film, you would probably notice that there are usually 2-3 people blocking him.

Yeah, well I saw a mock draft the other day that had him going 4th overall.

He’s whiffed on almost every tackle behind the line and potential QB sack he’s made a play on this year. If I we him miss tackles like that against Bama we’re screwed.

He had 13 tackles! That's what happened to him.

Losing Chaisson changed Arandas approach a bit, others having to compensate

I’m not reading all that because I stopped when you brought Arden Key last year. Dude played in 8 games and 4 sacks and 33 tackles. That’s a half a sack and 4 tackles a game. He wasn’t the cause of Devin being lights out.
Devin is being keyed on. Plain and simple.

Sometimes LBs get blocked on blitzes
The only area I really see where he needs to improve is on over pursuit
He often gets in the back field quick and instead of breaking down over runs the player
If he can fix that he will be an even more lethal blitzer

13 tackles. Exactly. He's either leading the league in tackles or is #2. A ranter lecturing Aranda on defensive schemes says it all about the so-called intellectual ranters on this board.

White has missed several tackles this year. I don't remember him missing many during the entire season last year. Is he still very good? YES but against Fla. he missed several tackles in the hole. Did he get by 2-3 guys to be in a position to make the tackle? Maybe. I didn't go back and watch the film. I defended him the 1st couple games for several whiffs but at this point its like come on man. He isn't breaking down. I know Aranda knows this and so does Devin White. I just don't know why the dropoff. shite, with his speed even if he breaks down and they slide by a little he can easily close on them. Its not like he is some slow arse LB who needs to guess and run to a spot
