I thought that A&M wanted to play the game on Thanksgiving when it was at College Station.

Probably wasn’t drawing viewers like a real rivalry game would.

ESPN wanted a permanent pairing to play on Turkey Day, and LSU would not agree to that. Egg Bowl stepped up to fill the void.

ESPN has been looking for an annual Thanksgiving night pairing and apparently has found one with the Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State. They will begin playing the series on Thanksgiving in 2017.

They weren't giving thanks for what was happening to their football team.

Their stadium was about 75% full on Thursday game. Wise move on their part to move it to Saturday.

And just a couple of years ago, the Aggies were all "we dictate the series with LSU" and "SEC honors our tradition of playing on Thanksgiving" on the Rant.

Now, we don't even play on Thanksgiving at all.

That crap went out fast.

A lot of Aggies also realized the LSU/A&M game didn't have the same appeal as the UT game did on Thanksgiving.

But yes, prior to that they did run with the "Daddy A&M dictates its schedule to LSU" bullshite.

Thanksgiving night was too quick a turnaround with no guarantee LSU could play Rice or a bad non conf team before it.
Next year they have Ark before the A&M game.
Player safety, no point in playing on that short of rest when you have Fri or Sat to play it instead.
I hated the Fri games. Sat is still the best option for all parties.

Although I'll miss playing on Thanksgiving day, playing LSU on Thanksgiving doesn't motivate people as much to go to the game as it would on any other Saturday.
