Lamar Brown. I get Brown not getting a full offseason but Berry…didn’t we convince him and Caden to stay?

He is down the depth chart.

Lamar Brown is 18 years old. He was in high school 4 months ago. I don’t know about Clemson’s specifically last night, but OLmen are the oldest players in college football on average. Brown played 15 snaps. Geralds seems to be the freak of the freshmen as far as intelligence, strength, motor, etc…But some of y’all were wild to think we were going to go into a season opener counting on 3 true freshman DL to all play most of the game.
When they get on campus, nobody cares what they were rated out of high school except the fans. And I’m not sure Lamar has a true position right now anyway. It may take them a while to figure out how best to use him. I think he will be a significant contributor all season, but should be much better and play much more in October and November.

Frank Wilson happened. Kevin Smith will get him right

Not to mention edge actually has depth. Lamar will make his statement next year most likely

Brown is an athlete. He will have to find his position and develop into it. Berry is think has too many holes in his game at this time. Lane and staff are wanting well rounded backs that can be in there every down.

Berry Ole Miss bound with Frank

Did Wilson instruct Berry and Durham to hit the ground at first contact? If he did they listened well. They look like they don't know what extra effort is.

Lane plays the best players. What is so confusing?

As far as Berry goes, I thought he was extremely overrated as a pure RB. I thought his skillset was best used in the passing game or other creative plays rather than just lining up behind the QB and taking the snap.
We should have taken more advantage of that last season. This season, we’ve got guys like Trey Wilson that do what Harlem does/could do in the passing game, only better. And he’s currently the 4th best RB in pass pro as well.
Make no mistake, he’s good and we’ll need him this year. But he’s not a RB1, and it may take a bit for Kiffin and Weis to figure out how best to use him. But they prefer a RB who got the hole hard and gets north/south fast. Jones is clearly much better at that than any other RB. But Berry and Durham really had no chance on any of their carries last night with the 3rd team OL in. They’re better than they looked.

Do you think Lamar Brown will stay at DE?
I'd love to see Lane try to talk him into going back to the OL... maybe LT.
He could also be a force at DT with Deuce and Rich

Berry was listed at #4 last night after being the #2 during camp. I figured he was banged up, but then the did come in late in the game, so not sure.

What I saw from Dillin Jones last night is something I never saw from Berry or Durham in any game last season. Jones has great LOS vision and makes cuts, spin moves, etc. He actually tries to run to any daylight instead of just running to where the hole is SUPPOSED to be. I criticized Berry and Durham season for making the OL look ever worse than it was.

Jones was running like he was a violent Spencer Ware. I wish nothing but good things for Berry, but if we don’t see much of him, it’s because Jones remains the back we’ve been waiting a while for.
Brown is young. Starting DT’s (if that’s where he’s playing) are usually veterans and need time. Exceptions are many — RJ Francois, Booger, Dorsey, Karl Dunbar. But he’s not going to be at his best for another season.

All three freshman played meaningful snaps last night.

It's a long season. Berry will have his time in the sun, or under the lights.

Berry isn’t big enough to take the pounding inLKs offense.

Berry is still making nice nil for being 3/4 string
