re: What game, or moment, did you really start to think we can really win it all?

Burrows reaction to this 2nd quarter TD pass vs Texas
vimeo
you could tell right then that he had already had it with people saying LSU wasnt good enough. He was here for 50, he was here for a title, so man the fukk up and lets go.

After we beat Bama.
3rd and 17 said we had the moxy and skill to win it all. Beating Bama on the road told me we got over our biggest hurdle and we were going to win it all. Destroying UGA told me it was a done deal. I had zero doubt about beating Oklahoma and was slightly nervous about Clemson.

When we smacked Georgia. I had a pretty good feeling up to that point, but when we beat them the way we did I knew no one was going to stop us.

I knew we were good enough after Bama, but i knew we could actually win it all after watching our d dominate A&M and Georgia

Texas. It just looked so easy offensively and it was as if Ensminger and Brady had a hard time slowing the offense down from scoring so much.

I’ve posted this before in a similar thread when someone mentioned 3rd and 17:

Burrow to Jefferson on 3rd and 17 against Texas is rightfully celebrated, but imo this team really became what it is on the last sequence of the first half.
It was a 10-7 game and LSU went on a 10 play 65 yard drive. On 3rd and goal from the 4 Burrow was sacked for a huge loss and we settled for a FG to go up 13-7 with under 2 minutes to go until half.
Texas came out throwing but the defense came up with a huge 3 and out capped by a huge sack by Chaisson on 3rd down forcing a punt from deep in their own territory.
Stingley had a solid 11 yard return to get us to our own 42 with 1:07 to go, again up 13-7.
Despite giving up a big sack to end the previous drive, LSU became the 2019 offense on this drive.
Burrow comes out throwing, with a 19 yard strike to Chase, an 18 yarder to Jefferson, and then one of the most beautiful and indefensible passes you will ever see on Saturday or Sundays with a back shoulder (opposite shoulder) lob right down the middle of the field to the end zone where Jefferson makes the perfectly precise adjustment jumping and turning his body to bring down the 21 yard TD on the third play of the drive.
Burrow then went HAM holding up double Ls and talking serious shite while his OL all crowded around beating on his helmet and chest.
That whole sequence after the big sack of Burrow was just a complete team effort with the D shutting down UT and a sack of our own, ST play by Stingley, the coaching to stay aggressive and Burrow, Chase, and Jefferson executing to perfection was all I needed to see to know this team was destined for greatness and I never felt a hint of worry the rest of the season.
An absolute thing of beauty and the best sequence of LSU football since the 21 point run against Arkansas 2011 before the end of that first half![]()
