Trent made the decision to go after Derenbecker instead of Galloway

bullshite. He recruited Galloway as hard as he could have, and it was never going to affect Derenbecker (who was always going to play the 3 compared to Langston being a true 2). Galloway's direct uncle is an assistant with St Joe's, it was in the bag before it started.

Heck, Dale Brown would have hired the Uncle, then signed Galloway.

If he doesn't make the NIT, he should be gone. Absolutely no excuse, with the talent that in LA, that he can't make a post season in the last 3 yrs. They need to bring someone in who is familiar with sec recruiting.

Watch how you say that, 75% of the posters here think of Dale Brown in the same light as Hitler.

I am a quasi-Trent supporter, and I do think this team is an improvement from the past two years, and I also accept the fact that the state has produced no major stars for the past 3 seasons.

All that being said, the wins and losses will eventually govern, and if he can't scrap together 6 conference wins than his job should rightfully be in jeopardy. I hope that isn't the case, but time will tell. We are just beginning a brutal 6 game stretch that will test this team, and may ultimately decide the fate.

I'm convinced Rick is your uncle. No one gives a frick about the NIT. let's talk real facts. 4 NCAA tournament wins in 14 years.
Would you accept at LSU with that stat?

Trent Johnson, not stansbury. Keep in mind that the thread is about Trent Johnson. But your Phil Jackson quip was pretty cool bro.

Win games down the stretch and at least make the NIT. This is a young team, but has tons of talent. I think after Kentucky we have many games this team is capable of winning. We just have to finish strong. Quit turning the ball over, and knock down some shots

The lack of accountability for shot selection is what pisses me off. I let it go the first couple years because we had Bo Spencer and really no one else, so he had to shoot. Stringer was horrible last year with his shot selection, but was a freshmen so I let it go. There really is no excuse now for him, although he's been better about it. Hickey and O'bryant have to use better shot selection the 2nd half of this schedule. They aren't freshmen anymore in my mind.

They added another year to his contract last summer so I would be surprised if his job is in jeopardy.

Likewise. However, if there are rumblings behind closed doors to that effect, I believe having a winning season would keep him afloat; in other words getting to at least 16 wins.

Recruit a full-sized human to play the 2.

At 2-4 in the SEC it isnt looking good.

Which one of the 4 loses was a "bad loss." They have not lost a home conference game and their road losses are to a ranked Miss. St. team, a ranked Florida team, Alabama (potential tournament team) and Arkansas (potential tournament team). The key for Trent is not letting his younger players get discouraged because the back half of the SEC schedule is considerably easier. It is going to be tough for this team to win more than maybe one more game before Feb. 14; however, after Feb. 14 I like their chances of running the table with five in a row. That would put LSU at about 8-8, which is what was probably expected going into this year. On top of that, the SEC is probably stronger than most people expected this year (see Tennessee win over UConn and Arkansas win over Michigan for examples).

Alabama. 15 turnovers resulting in 25 points for the Tide. The opponent was quality (with apologies to Les) but the "loss" was bad.

I'll agree the play was sloppy, but Alabama on the road this year, there was probably less than a 35% chance that LSU would win there, especially early in the conference schedule with young guards.

They really need to hold serve and beat Bama at home.

Wins and losses aren't that important for a team like this. It is playing competent smart ball. Does Bama outclass them? Probably. The loss was a bad one based on the play. LSU last night had some of those same problem but made it competitive at the end. That is progress. But just because you are likely to lose a game doesn't absolve you from a "bad loss" in my opinion.

Whatever you do, don't go to ESPN and look up how Langston Galloway is doing at St. Joseph's.

He's averaging 16 ppg on the No.8 team in the A-10. Big fricking deal.
