I think we're all assuming Burrow has taken the reigns as the clear cut guy forcing LN and JM to transfer. I believe word was that Brennan was looking to redshirt to preserve some eligibility and to spend this year developing while we used the other 2 guys as backups. I'm assuming this means he won't redshirt even if Burrow stays healthy the whole year as we'll want to get Brennan some reps in smaller games or hopefully against some SEC teams in garbage time. What's the rant think?

ETA: Forgot all about the 4 game rule. In my opinion if we could get away with preserving his redshirt we absolutely should. Myles Brennan seems like he could use all of the physical development he can get.

He could play in 4 games this year and still take a redshirt this season.

If Burrow doesn't get hurt, Brennan redshirts. Pretty simple.

No chance Brennan red shirts now

We'd be one injury away from starting a walk-on

Not necessarily. We would "redshirt" him until a situation arose where we would burn it. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I expect Sale to see a lot of mop up time in blow outs (if we have any)

And save Brennan for later so that his 4 games arent used up too quickly

Damnit, you can't predict any red shirts when you have only 2 scholarship quarterbacks! Now stop this foolishness!!

He absolutely can still redshit. If Etling managed to stay healthy 2 years, I'm sure Burrow can. And if the worst did happen and Burrow goes down, then Brennan can play in at least 4 games before having to completely burn the redshirt.

I think you get Brennan some work against SELA, LA Tech, and hopefully Ole Miss to make sure he's ready in case of injury. After that, you let Sale take mop up duty and hope you can get through the season with Burrow remaining healthy so Brennan can redshirt.

Brennan needs reps now against teams like SLU. He hasn’t shown anything that makes me believe he can step in against SEC competition if Burrow were to go down. Let’s be honest though, I’m 2 of the first 3 games, there won’t be garbage time reps.

I don't think Brennan redshirts this season.

There are only 3 rent a wins this year in USL, Tech and Rice. It make sense to pull Burrow in those games if it’s a blowout. But for USL it might be good to keep Burrow in there to get ready for Auburn. He isn’t that experienced either so any reps can help if done smart and he stays protected. He might take a shot here or there too and miss a few plays possibly in which Brennan would be needed. I think it’ll be tough to keep Brennan redshirted using the new rules but not impossible. It should be a luxury and not the goal. Brennan can use reps as well so his development is key. Burrow is done with school. IF he has a solid year he could say I’m done with college and leave like Mauck did.

So long as Burrow is healthy no reason to think they still cant redshirt Brennan as he can still play in up to 4 games.

Probably sees action in LT, SE LA, and Rice games then they save him in case they need him after that and still potentially get a redshirt.

If all we need is a QB to handoff or take a knee Sale can do that just fine.

Depending on the injury but if he takes a shot and needs to come out, should put Sale in and determine if Burrow will miss an extended period of time. If so, then play Brennan. For just a few plays or series, play Sale.

It doesn't really matter if Brennan redshirts, or not. We will have the qb we need when that time comes. Ensminger with Burrow, and Brennan will change the stigma of offense, and qbs left at LSU by Les Miles.

I believe LSU will beat either, or both Alabam, and Georgia this season. If, and when this happens Orgeron, Aranda, and Ensminger will be able to land any recruit they choose for the foreseeable future. This is WHY I am all in with this regime, and program.

That is where the staff is in a Catch-22. I am sure they would love to get Brennan some action vs. Southeastern, but do they risk playing him in that game and "burning" one of the 4 games that he can appear in? Managing Brennan is going to be tricky. Hopefully if all goes well and Burrow stays healthy, perhaps Brennan can play a lot in the Rice game in November.
