Coach O and Coach Canada are preparing for a long run. O likes Brennan. Brennan showed alot of poise last night against the #1 team in the nation. Aranda coached a good game also. I reallly feel like the coaching staff is doing as good a job as possible using the talent that is available. They know where the weaknesses are and I have confidence that they will fill those gaps as quickly as possible. The future looks bright for the Tiger Nation!

The problem with Etlings performance last night was 2 fold. 1 the throws he missed on he’s made before and he had more time last night than most games so it’s all on him. 2 he doesn’t turnover the ball and force throws but he did last night. We all knew going into the game that Etling would have to make throws to beat Bama most people thought if he had time he would be able to make those throws and he didn’t. Yes Chark dropped a deep ball yes Anderson dropped a catchable ball but Etling missed more throws than the WRs made mistakes on. Bottom line is even with time he shrunk last night. The QB position going forward this year is a catch 22 type situation, we’ve seen Etlings ceiling and it’s not enough to get us to where we wanna go but he can beat the rest of the teams on schedule. But since he is a veteran QB shouldn’t we try to season Brennan now that we have a chance to do it? I’d be in favor of giving him a chance to see what he can do with a full games worth of reps and if he has trouble you have a veteran game manager to go to in Etling.

O knows he has to win now. He is not going to put wins in jeopardy to season a freshman qb at this point.

You’re absolutely right but will playing Brennan really put games in jeapordy? This is totally hypothetical as i can’t promise either will happen but for the sake of argument t would you trade an extra TD or 2 with a more downfield threat for an extra Int or 2? What i mean is would you trade Brennan’s upside for Etlings safe play?

For 3 straight weeks you've been in every single thread on this website shouting nonsense about how great Etling is. Telling everyone how "you know football" and "everyone else who disagrees with your Etling is awesome assessment is an idiot and a loser." You've insulted and cursed at every person who disagreed with you like a petulant child. You made up a fake scouting report from a fake NFL scout that "said" how strong his arm is. You've literally posted hundreds of times about his QBR and his 40 yard passes and blah blah blah. Now you want him benched?!?! Hahahahahahahhahahahahahaahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Nothing that would jeopardize losing any of these last 3 games.
If any of them are out of reach, then play MB.

Otherwise, stick with the horse you rode in on....albeit "we ridin" a bit of nag right now.

I say start Brennan and give him the reps now. His bad can't be as worse as Danny's ineffectiveness at times. It's understood that he'll make mistakes, but I think we'll take that with a grain of salt as long as the passing offense is more productive. I'm not sure who's Cullota's source is, but I've heard him say multiple times that Brennan is the preferred quarterback for Matt Canada's offense. If he struggles you'll have Danny there to back him up. But if he succeeds and the offense is more dynamic, you'll see recruits jump on board to come be part of it.

For all practical purposes, O has publicly announced he has more actual confidence in Brennan than Etling.

First, in the Troy game, then in this one.

But, it's weird. If that's what's in your head, then hell, pull the trigger and give the guy all the 1st team practice snaps and roll with it.

The net result of those two games at this point is that everyone in the stadium, every player, and most importantly, Etling, knows that O really doesn't believe in him.

Not saying I blame him.......but if that's the case.........ACT!

Pretty sad that our "safe", "efficient" QB will probably barely make into the teens with Passing TD's. His best option it tall heaves to the trees or playaction. Another sad thing is, MB has already been named starter for next season which tells me once again we won't have a fair QB competition. I think he will do very well against most teams, just not Bama, UGA, Clemson, and a few other top defenses that can pressure a slower QB.

It's clear those are at least a few teams we would have to defeat to finally raise the trophy again and I'm still not sold he can do it with his feet. Any QB we play will have to escape the pocket and keep the chains moving. If not teams will continue to pin their ears back like Bama.

Narcisse likely will be a redshirt. Remember he has had knee surgery.

Etling will start the rest of the season. We can win out with Danny as the starter. O ain't risking a loss by letting Brennan play. And I doubt he takes the redshir off narcisse this late.

This. If we had a responsible fan base and a competent AD, then I say let Brennan start taking over regardless of win/loss. But we lack both, so Etling is the safer play.

The responsible fan base realizes this is college football and not the NFL. We aren’t willing to lose games to “prepare for the future.”

The responsible fan base doesn’t want to tell our seniors their last season doesn’t matter. That only Brennan and his reps matter.

I look at it a little differently related to O's seat being warm. His seat will be warm no matter what we do the rest of this season, especially if we don't do something to improve this recruiting class. But he's got 2 huge buyouts protecting him in the short term...his own $12M buyout, plus Les Miles' buyout so long as he doesn't land another coaching job that would reduce what LSU has to pay him.

F. King isn't going to sign off on firing Coach O after one season and owing him $12M buyout on top of still having to pay Miles too.

O should be giving Brennan plenty of playing time over the next few weeks to get him as much preparation for next season as possible. Next season will be more crucial for O than the rest of this season. As that buyout drops each season, the seat will become a whole lot warmer if there's not improvement...and even warmer if Les Miles finds a coaching job

I'm here to tell you that Brennan is never beating Bama or winning an SEC championship, if he can't take the job from Etling by now.
This is Brennan’s first year. He’s a true freshman. You don’t think he will improve at all? His lowest point is already as high as Etling’s high point in qb skills.
