IMO Two corners will be Claiborne and Simon. Two safeties Taylor and Reid/Loston...Tyrann and Brooks as dime backs

Mo, tm7, loston, Taylor.

That's base, but I think we will see a large amount of 5+ DBS this year.

Simon and Reid are too good to keep off the field. Brooks causes major problems when blitzing opposite of tm7.

I wouldn't be suprised if a guy like Micah Eugene came in and demanded pt also. Loads of good prospects suiting up in '11

I agree

CB: Mo and TM7
FS/SS: Taylor and Loston/Reid

Passing downs or multiple WR sets TM7 moves inside and Simon comes in.

Loston and Reid will probably rotate who's starting all year.

We're going to be nasty back there.

+1

especialllllllly if we can simply produce a ball control, give your defense a rest type of offense.

I think they're going to switch Tyrann and Simon out quite a bit. Simon has a pretty big height advantage and it will probably depend on the receiver of the week.

He's good against the run and on a blitz.

And, from what I saw last year and in the spring, Simon is better in coverage.

I think what we will see to start the year is Mo on the #1, but I remember several times last year when pp7 wasn't on the 1. Chavis likes to keep them guessing, and I think Simon is going to be revealed over a few games and by mid season covering specific guys.

Here's my prediction. Simon will be ready to step into this role when we travel to rocky top. We need him to cover Justin hunter.

Don't underestimate the reflexes of tyrann in lieu of his height though, he is a turnover machine.

The thing I like most is I personally believe many teams, in particular MSU, will test Simon early and often. I predict he will pass their test.

You don't take you're best playmaker off the field, so TM starts at CB. I think Reid is too good to keep off the field either.

CB: Mo, Tyrann
S: Taylor, Reid

As already said we will see a lot of 5-6 DB sets to get Simon and Loston/Reid on the field.

this

Situation will also dictate personnel. Although Tyrann has an extremely impressive vertical, Simon's height provides more assurance with jump balls near the goal line.

I hope it's Mo Tyrann Taylor and Reid.

Bring in Simon on obvious passing downs, move T-wrecks to nickel and like BigEd said put him against some of the real height advantaged WRs like J. Hunter and if we get to the SEC champ game, he needs to play against Alshon all game(I think USCe will be there again).

This defensive backfield is the deepest in the history of the program imo. Just sick! If you're Les, I don't know how you keep Reid or Loston watching the D play, by you on the sideline.

Here's the good Dr's 2-deep:

CB - MoC, RB13
CB - Simon, TM7
FS - ER1, Pappa6
SS - BT15, Vinson

Nickel Back - TM7, RB13

Dime Back - RB13, Vinson

everything is pretty much set at CB and at SS. Claiborne and Mathieu outside and Taylor at SS. The big battle that will rage on through fall camp is FS between Loston and Reid. I personally like Reid a little more but either one of those 2 could start.

Oh and from everything I have read from the coaches mouths themselves Simon will only come in at CB when we go to nickel or dime/mustang and Mathieu kicks down to NB...which honestly will be probably 50% of the year or better.

I agree that Mathieu will have issues dealing with someone like Justin Hunter. And with his height, Simon would make for a smaller margin of error for them.

But let's face it, if the Tennessee QB delivers a fairly well-thrown fade route, Hunter is going to come down with the ball - it doesn't matter who is tagging him. He will outjump Simon by a good 8 inches.

He is a playmaker for sure, but isn't the known quantity at CB that people like to believe.

Physical limitations will get TM in trouble with his aggressive nature. It happened a few times last year. I would feel more comfortable if they did a rotation with Simon/TM unless TM just blows it up in coverage. Not saying he is bad at it, just bigger WRs will have a easier job trying to abuse him. The limited time I've seen Simon play, he really shocks me at how well he moves. I never thought we'd keep him at CB being that big. He was lights out in spring game and was very good in coverage last year.

I like his nickel abilities too and I'm not sure anyone can do those as good as him.
