Just wanting to get opinions...
With JJ on his A game, or O looked pretty good.
The fake Ridly dive and having JJ run it in was a nice call I thought.
Does Gary deserve another year?

No. QB coach at this point seems to be more important than offensive playcalling.

I doubt he called the entire game. I believe Miles told him to stop thinking this is some PAC 10 school an actually line up I-Formation an run the damn ball.

He called a good game, biggest thing was JJ and tolliver connecting for deep passes....we didnt do that all year and that sets up so much more in the run.

He gets one more year....Zack and JJ will be competing for starting job...I think zack takes it and our offense is in crowtons hands..no excuses...zack m is very accurate.

oh, he called the same game he did all season. the players executed it much better. j.j. hit the deep ball. the offensive line dominated their opponent.

simple, the offense produced the most (other than ole miss) against the best three defenses they faced.

it wasn't gary crowton calling better plays. it was getting better execution/play out of the qb and o-line.

the offense looks very good when the qb makes an accurate pass, the wr catches the ball, and the o-line protects/opens hole's for the running game.

Gary Crowton's coaching record. Every job, his next year is worst than the one before. But, at LSU we are winning in spite of Crowton...Because of the talent level at LSU...Crowton has to GO..

1999 Bears Team offensive ranking 26th Crowton OC 6-10
2000 Bears Team offensive ranking 28th Crowton OC 5-12
2001 Bears Team offensive ranking 11th with John Schoop as OC
(not Crowton) 2001 the Bears went 13-3

2001 BYU - 618 Points scored in 14 games. Crowton's 1st year. 12-2
2002 BYU - 272 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 2nd year. 5-7
2003 BYU - 196 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 3rd year. 4-8
2004 BYU - 267 Points scored in 11 games. Crowton's 4th year. 5-6
--------
2005 BYU - 396 Points scored in 12 games. 1st year w/o Crowton. 6-6
2006 BYU - 478 Points scored in 13 games. 2nd year w/o Crowton. 11-2

2005 Oregon - 414 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 1st year. 10-2
2006 Oregon - 383 Points scored in 13 games. Crowton's 2nd year. 7-6
-----------
2007 Oregon - 496 Points scored in 13 games. 1st year w/o Crowton. 9-4
2008 Oregon - 545 Points scored in 13 games. 2nd year w/o Crowton. 10-3

2007 LSU - 541 Points scored in 14 games. Crowton's 1st year. 12-2
2008 LSU - 402 Points scored in 13 games. Crowton's 2nd year. 8-5
2009 LSU - 323 Points scored in 13 games. Crowton's 3rd year. 9-4
2010 LSU - 313 points scored in 12 games Crowton’s 4th year.
(7 passing TDs - 1 a HB pass, 27 rushing TDs, 31 XPs, 26 FGM)

That was nowhere near any gameplan we have had all year. Instead of saying we were going to simplify the offense, we actually did. We lined up 2 TE, I form and pounded for 5 yards a pop. And to my astonishment, we didn't go away from what was working. We took away JJ's carries and gave them to Ware with great success. We minimized the read option. And since we pounded the hell out of the ball, we were able to set up the PA to our big fast WRs downfield.

Nothing of that game screamed Gary Crowton at all.

I knew we would do well on offense. Understand, Crowton and the offense he has is very complicated, especially to jj (qb) But when you have 40 days to desing plays and go over them for weeks with JJ, they work well.

The real problem is when you only have one week in the SEC to work on offense for the next game. JJ doesn't have the time to absorb it all and fully understand all his reads, audibles, etc Hence all the disarray many times throughout the year.

OL opening holes you could drive a bus through certainly helped, too.

One good game should not buy Crowton another year after 3 bad years. I will say that Crowton called a very good game, and it all started with the running game being totally dominating. He set up plays, and used the rushing attack to do it. The first TD pass to Tolliver was set up by all of the hand offs from shotgun formation. And I've always said Jefferson is the perfect QB for a rush first offense.

The problem is Crowton isn't consistent with this type of performance. Sure, offense will show up every now and then, but remember most of the year LSU struggled against Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Miss. St. Next season, LSU has a great shot at a NC, but we cannot afford any down time. Offense has to pick up where it left off against A&M when we open the season against Oregon.

LSU HAD A GREAT SHOT AT THE NC THIS YEAR...
But because of no offense we lost 2 games and almost (maybe shoud have) lose another 2....

Crowton has to go...

I think it is obvious that Gary Crowton isn't the problem - you don't just happen to call a good game. The Cotton Bowl showed what LSU could have done with a capable QB - JJ played his best game of the year - he hit the deep ball which opened up the run. QB play has been the missing link for two years now.
