What do you think the most important factor is in us winning Saturdy?

Not committing turnovers. Especially Pick 6's.

Getting pressure on the QB.

Our secondary playing lights out.

Running the ball effectively.

I think we have to run the ball early. And stick with it. If we can run on them early and dont have to resort to the pass i think we can win. But if we have to put in in Lee's hands especially early, it might be tuff.

What do yall think?

Scoring more points than Alabama would go a long way toward securing victory.

I think if LSU can take care of the ball and have balance on offense and control the line on defense they'll be fine.

Nobody has ran on Bama this year...LSU will probably have moderate success running but will need an established passing game too. If LSU is 1 dimensional, Bama will dominate.

LSU couldn't stop UGA's running game, despite the fact that UGA's OL is young and not all that stellar. Bama held UGA to something like 30 yards rushing.

In order for LSU to win they must focus on stopping the run and hope JPW has a bad day...and they must get better production from their passing game.

the obvious is obvious

but here are 2 items I see as MUSTs
avoid the "pick 6",
pressure John Parker Wilson

can't throw down field if you do not have time...it will take pressure off our corners too.

Remember: Saban always throws a special play in the first or second series.

There running game is a concern. I'm more concerned with Coffee than with Ingram or Upchurch because Coffee is a Moreno type back IMO that can break one. We can't afford to give up a big play like that and let them get on the board quickly. We need to play ball control and solid defense. STOPPING THE RUN IS PRIORITY ONE. If they get some passing plays, so be it.

yeah i would really like our d-line to step up and live up to the "best d-line in the country" hype. it makes our secondary look bad when they are stranded out there and picked apart bc the qb has all day to throw

I mean, can you seriously think of any game where these factors aren't needed for a win?

agreed Coffee is their hot back right now. other than the two big plays we stoped Moreno pretty good, if we can shut down Coffee we will be in good shape.

The Tigers have to break their habit of falling behind early in big games. They cannot be in obvious passing situations and expect prolonged success. Last year was a different story.

I hate to say it, but I think the Tigers need to take some chances early: Try to hit Byrd deep, flea flicker, etc. Something positive to start the game would get the fans/players going. Remember, some of the younger players could be doubting themselves after the losses to FL and GA.

I think not turning the ball over--especially early--is critical. But that's no secret. I think another thing would be if we can take an early 7-10 point lead and keep the crowd in the game throughout the 1st half, we might roll. I actually think we could blow them out.

All of you focusing on Coffee should know that Ingram ran for around 113 yard on 12-13 carries last week.

It's also been rumored that if LSU stacks the box to stop up the middle, Bama might bring in Terry Grant to challenge on the outside.

I thought of a bunch of things to say here but basically it all boils down to "Stepping up and playing a solid game for 4 quarters". But I will add that we need to not throw the game like fully half of the teams have done against Alabama this year.

yeah i was really asking which do you think is the most important.

Getting pressure on the QB.

we've really only done this once this year, vs. south carolina.

quote:

Not committing turnovers. Especially Pick 6's

we've won and lost games doing this

Our secondary playing lights out.

hasnt happened all year

LSU could blow out Bama?

hahaha....you really ARE drinking too much.

LSU's offense isn't going to blow out anyone.

The offense hasn't been the problem. But you are right it is hard to blow out anyone when the defense allows the other team 28 or 35 points!

Alabama's offense is nowhere near as good as Florida's or Georgia's. And I'm not predicting a blowout, just saying that if everything goes right, it can happen. I don't, however, think Alabama can blow us out. I don't think they have that kind of firepower. Unless they score 21 points on defense.
