They tried to give LSU respect but at the same time were making excuses for Oregon.

More LSU fans, less travel distance, new linemen, players out.

We had players out, we had some guys that were green, and the home field argument is alwas stupid. Home field gets you about 3 points at most extra. LSU has won at bama and bama has won at LSU. Home field is a horrible argument.

What the talking heads say matters little. What we do on the field is all that counts. They get on the bandwagon when teams are rolling. Our reviews will depend on the results of our latest game. Some of our recent detractors will change their tune as we advance through the schedule and if we fall they wll sa "told you so."

The sports media is so predictable. They want to be able to predict all the winners and who will win the NC. So their safe bet is Bama. Remember, Bama was picked to win the NC last year with Ingram, Julio and McElroy and look what happen. They lose those 3 guys, have no QB and they are picked a again to win the West and NC with the only exception being OU. They just moved from Pete Carrol to Nick Saban. They will never view Les as a top tier CF Coach because they can't figure him out. Which I love it this way!

Surprisingly enough, I found myself agreeing with Herbie most of time. I think he's finally come to realize he has to accept us as the real deal and can't just put it all down to luck, it took most of us until last year to realize it.

I think Herbie was a pompous a-hole last night. Some people here must have not even had the damn volume turned up. He made excuses for Oregon from the beginning!

First Half:
1.)Didn't show one replay when an LSU player got injured.
1a) When two LSU players went down, he insinuated that they did so on purpose: "I find that mighty strange that two of them went down at the same time." - I was screaming before they went down at how the whole Oregon line chop blocked, but Herbie drops an accusation that LSU is faking injuries and doesn't show the replay which clearly shows them taking chop blocks to the knees.
1b.) The VERY next play Oregon gets flagged for leg whipping.

2.)L. James makes an 8 yard dash and they are ranting about how he's performing like a hiesman candidate (his average was 2.8 ypc at the time of this statement).

Second Half:

1.) Starts framing the situation as one in which Oregon loses because LMJ and K. Barner are injured.

2.) After mentioning how blazing fast Oregon is compared to LSU, he carefully chooses the word "out flanking" every time LSU turns the corner on a run because he's too chicken shite to admit that he was wrong and that LSU was faster than Oregon.

10 of Oregon's 27 pts came from LSU miscues / bullshite penalties in the first half, and an additional 7 came against LSU's second string linebackers / dline in the 2nd half.

My point? LSU wasn't lucky to hold Oregon to 27 pts as they'd like to frame the story, because Oregon had to pull everything they had and get a few huge breaks to get more than half of them.

Lastly, his post game review told a narrative that lsu won despite poor qb play instead of noting that won because they had GREAT rb play.

The mesh point is the point where the qb sticks the ball in the rb gut on the read option. Its the split second where the qb has to read and decide to give or not.

Maybe it is because I hate the guy but all I heard was how Oregon last this player and that player from last years team and how LSU was faking injuries to slow the game.

I thought it was a pretty good job for both

I get the BM hate but I grew up with the guy doing sports, he is who he is

and FWIW, he did a 87 LSU-Ohio St game for CBS with Pat Haden (or Ara parseigian, can't remember) back in the day and the dude treated LSU like it was the greatest place on earth. I can still hear that broadcast

he did give us a lot of respect. Im sure it was hard for him to do, but he seemed to be on the LSU/SEC bandwagon from the beginning.

Same thoughts here.

About the only excuse I didn't hear for OU from Herbdouche was the Japanese earthquake and Arab Spring.

The "fake injury" and "hands on the hips" comments are S.O.P.

The camera operators know that if they can get a few players in one camera shot with their hands on their hips, their shot will get on the air.

Hilarious that they made the "tired defense" remark right as they were hitting half-time.

Where Mus and Herb really threw me was their unbridled love for De'Anthony Thomas. He was the find of the century, a stroke of genius to have him on the field... etc. Then he gives up the ball and it's, "Well, that's what you get when you push a true Freshman into the spotlight."

And Herb gave LSU the minimal amount of praise. In his mind, LSU took advantage of mistakes while not crapping the bed.

I still think he's a douche.

It's the imaginary area where the QB puts the ball in the belly of the rb and makes his read. The QB can't look at the RB to "aim" the ball into his chest because his eyes are reading the read keys for the option. Thus, it is the imaginary spot where the QB / RB exchange either takes place or not and it has to be practiced so much to where its muscle memory so the guys can focus on their other responsibilities.

Blowing up the mesh point means that they were basically getting in the backfield so fast that the play was over before it began. Offenses can take advantage of defenses that run up field, but not really when they blow up the mesh point (directly behind the center). Its the equiv to "sacking" the QB on a pass, because even though its a running play, it was kind of ended before the qb could "pass or scramble".

Hope i made sense. Im sure the answer is much more simple, but I just wanted to explain why blowing up the mesh point is so hard on an option offense.
