Hey, H-Town, I was at that game too. There was a light rain all night which made it all the more miserable (except for you being the Tulane fan you were). I had been to a few games before then, but that one I remember vividly.

not doubt that's a big factor. If the game was played in late Nov, it would even be different. It was game 3, not a game a good LSU team should lose, but we weren't quite a good team at that point. Teams do improve over the course of a year.

cool, yes it did drizzle all game. We were in the west upper.

To add to the coincidence, I live up in the Woodlands too. We usually watch games at BW's

My problem with including Ole Miss 2009 is that Ole Miss was a pretty good team that year on the road and played well enough to beat us.

so what? History is meaningless.

bullshite. not when you're talking about the players on the field. there were alot a good players on that LSU team.

quote:

It was 2000 UAB vs 2000 LSU. It was the 3rd game of the year with a new coach taking over a team that won 3 games the year before and 4 the year before that. We were not a good team yet and it was only a 3 point loss.

don't care. it was UAB. Probably the sickest i've ever felt leaving Tiger Stadium

quote:

Miami Ohio in 86 was a good team, but coming off a big win over A&M and to lose the way we did, 21-12 with so many turnovers, stupid plays.

82 Tulane Tulane was 3-7 coming in, LSU had just won a huge game over FSU to get an Orange Bowl bid. It could be argued that it was a "meaningless" game for LSU.

94 Auburn. I don;t think we really need to rehash this one.

There, that's 3, whats "wrong" with my list?

All horrible losses....but none of those teams are a UAB. And i know all about LSU football before 2000 so don't worry about that.

quote:

only a football snob would say this. Its ridiculous with out the context of how the teams rate when they play.

If by context you mean a crappy UAB team full of nobodys coming into Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night and beating a team that had 17 NFL players on it than sure......whatever.

Yeah, but UAB finished with a winning record in 2000. They were 7-4,

against who?

If you are merely fixating on that game because UAB was a mid-major, then why aren't you also considering Tiger Stadium home losses to Tulane, Miami(Oh), Colorado State, and Southern Miss?

also horrible losses...but those teams are recognized and had beaten top programs before.

no. i was just as sick about then when i was a
Saban fan. If you would've asked me this question in March of '04 i would've told you the same thing

a D1 program with a veteran coach.

must not have been to many games prior to then

maybe, but you clearly don't know anything about those other teams. 7-4 2000 UAB > 4-7 1982 Tulane

nope, that's not contex, that's more football snobbery/anti-Saban nonsense.

that's just retarded. you are hung up on a name and history.

+1 i dont think i have ever been so mad after a game before. refs and jimbo's gameplan were just horrific.

Ole Miss outplayed us and frankly should have won, but the way the game ended was inexcusable, that's why it will and maybe should get mention. Its all about context. Choctow is just hung up on a name and history.

That game has no business being mentioned because they outplayed us all the way. Just like had we lost to Tennessee last year, that shouldn't be mentioned because of the 4 (5?) turnovers we committed in that game.

The last minute doesn't speak for the course of the game.

Ole Miss 01' Wouldnt have changed the season, but Devery Henderson's first game at RB cost us that one despite Eli having a hell of a game in TS.

Whoa, now. I don't think the UAB game was as bad as some but while factually true, describing Watson Brown as a 'veteran coach' really doesn't mean diddle considering his sterling record at Rice and Vanderbilt before getting to UAB.

The only good thing I remember about that game was being on the sidelines during the national anthem and kickoff. Other than that, that was the worst game I attended as a student and pisses me off to this day.

is there something about that post that is out of context? Seems pretty factual to me.

I'll put it this way. There are several games that upset me...the few you mentioned along with Auburn '06 and Ole Miss '09...but for some reason that UAB game disgusts me. And it has nothing to do with who our head coach was. If Miles were to ever lose to East Carolina i'd be just as disgusted

Most inexcusable by a player
1994 Jamie Howard Auburn

Most inexcusable by coaches
-Tennesse05
-Auburn 06

The Uab game wasn't that horrible. They played over their heads. We didn't have a really great team, and Booty thought he was still at Evangel

The two that seem most senseless to me are Refgate (2006 AU) and the one I would cast my vote for: The Meltdown in Mississippi (2009 Ole Miss). I was at that game and there was NO excuse for us to lose that one other than pure incompetance. I lost more respect for Miles after that loss than any other. There were so many missed opportunities that we should have won by two scores without even needing a last second hail mary.

Never mind the fact that we got manhandled all game and needed a miracle onside kick to even be in that position.
