Try the St. Charles Inn which is right next door to Superior Grill on St. Charles....then there are bunch of hotels on Poydras....close to the Dome, close to the Quarter....and if all else fails.....i know alot of Fla fans are staying in Gulfport and Biloxi at the casino hotels on the Gulf Coast...dont know what theyll charge for NYE and NYN....but you can bet your arse that they will be cheaper than anything in or near the quarter...at the casino hotels, you have to drive to and from the game, but once you get back, you can party with the tons of Fla fans, then take the elevator to your room....no DWI with that option...

New Orleans East District is second only to the French Quarter.

Check out VRBO.com. I rented an apartment in the Quarter for three nights from them in '07. They've got homes and apartments worldwide for rent.

Anywhere outside Orleans parish, if you value your life.

New Orleans East District
You can squat in any number of abandoned houses.
But really, try looking outside the city. Look into Kenner, LA (by the airport). Or, go further out to Avondale, LA;Boutte, LA; or Destrehan, LA. If you go too far out the city, you'll need to rent a car.

Okeefe Plaza
Here's a hotel that is inexpensive and near the dome. My friends have stayed there before. Can't beat the price...
Though it looks like Thursday and Friday are booked so i guess this can just be used for future reference. (also you might want to check and see if they have any cancellations).
Red A indicates location of the O'Keefe Plaza.

Is there still a little "cotton patch" maintained on the neutral ground on Earhart as it comes into Orleans Parish from Jefferson Parish?

Queen and Crescent in the CBD usually has really good rates....close to the Quarter, Dome, etc and it's in a safe area.

Dumb, no. Sketchy in some parts definately. Try the Hampton Inn on St Charles Avenue uptown or the Best Western right next door do the Hampton. Both are reasonable and on the street car line so you don't have to drive to the Quarter.
Good idea. Also some smaller hotels one or two blocks from the Quarter across Canal in the CBD..Hampton, etc. They are easy walk to Dome, easy walk to Quarter and Casino and not generally as pricey as the big hotels on the Q or on Canal.

It's been a good while since i've been to N.O. but if i remember right Drury Inn is off of Poydras. I stayed there for the 2002 Sugar Bowl vs Illinois. Nice Hotel.

Try the Hampton Inn on Carondelet. It's really nice and walking distance to the Dome, FQ, Casino and some good restaurants.

Stay in Covington if you want a safe area and relatively cheap hotels.
45 minute drive to the dome.
And the Causeway is straight, so you just have to keep it btwn the lines after partying. No need to worry about a DWI if you cant manage that- you should be sober by the time they fish you out of Ponchartrain.
