What a year to be a Tiger.

I was sipping a fine microbrew last night and thinking back on the season. This has been one of the best week to week football watching experiences I can ever remember. There have been some epic games with unbelievable results every week. And leading the way in excitement and excellence from week one has been the Tigers.
I was at Jerry World with my tailgate buddies, the "Boudin Krewe" and the whole weekend was a carnival of purple and gold debauchery. The ducks never knew what was in store from them, but we did. Their West Coast offense was rattled, chased, and driven to the ground by a Tiger team that couldn't WAIT to show the world what was in store for the season.
Each game since then has had these defining and memorable moments that just make shivers run up your spine. From Jarrett Lee starting and becoming "General Lee", to TM7 metamorphosing in to the Honey Badger, to Brad Wing getting a touch down overturned for TAUNTING, to an epic battle in Tuscaloosa that shocked the football nation and will be cursed by Gumps for years to come, on and on it got better and better.
Since 2007 when we won the ship, Tiger fans have had some tough years. Sure, we've had winning seasons, but a lot of the wins were sloppy and left you feeling more like we lost. The fans were torn apart of coaching problems like the duel DC's and Crowton hate. Clock management issues probably took several years off my life. And JLee vs JJ still has us foaming at the mouths all week.
But, this year the Tigers have won, and won convincingly. They've destroyed offense's best layed plans, and then damn near TOLD the other team their intent of running it down their throats, and then done it with brutal and overpowering force of will. The passing game has been efficient and effective. The "Mad Hatter" hasn't pulled many rabbits out of his hat, because he hasn't had to.
We just win.
So on this Thanksgiving day, the day before our last home game, against a damn fine opponent that promises to make us earn the title of Number One in the Nation one more time, I say thank you to the LSU Fighting Tigers, for an incredible year.
GEAUX TIGERS!

Nice summary of the season so far. Hope we add to it the next three games.

I've been a faithful Tiger fan since 2006. (I'm new to the Rant, though).
I hope everyone takes a moment, as you have, to reflect on it and savor it.
The games and the season go by so fast. Can you imagine what a blur it must be for the team itself?
But wow. This is something special.
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

Great recap of a great season!
I think a lot of fans forget just how far this program has come, and therefore don't truly appreciate what we have.
I appreciate the OP's point, but seeing seasons of 8-5,9-4, and 11-2 (2008-2010) referred to as "tough years" almost makes me chuckle. I guess it's all a matter of prospective, I view it as a guy who's first 10 years as a season ticket holder saw THREE winning and SEVEN losing seasons!
Guess this is why I'm always preaching...."Enjoy the ride"!

It's a testament to how far we have come as a program. I used to get excited when we were ranked in the Top 25!

Oregon runs a West Coast offense?

I've been a Tiger fan all my 52 years, graduating from there in '82. There have been good seasons, bad ones and a few great here and there, but I've never been more impressed than I have this year. They exemplify what it means to be a team, overcoming adversity and maintaining cohesiveness. It takes great talent to put together a season like this, but make no mistake, only the right coaching will bring the results we've seen so far.
In saying all this. I also recognize that everyone is human and this is the SEC, so you can never overlook an opponent. My hope and belief is for a harsh beating of the Hogs tomorrow, but I never count a W until all is said and done.
