There’s also 8 guys competing for those two spots. It’s going to be a battle there with some of the new guys coming in.
And honestly I’d go as far as saying there are 3 outfield spots up for grabs. Gio hasn’t done enough to feel comfortable with his starting job.

Really wish Toups wouldn't have left. There will be a lot of worthy kids sitting on the bench this season though. If he wanted to seek a guarantee of more playing time, it is what it is.
And yeah, I agree. Gio is far from being locked into CF.

8 or 9 guys, 4 are freshmen. 1 is a football player. One has. 25%k rate & is below average defensively.
Pretty favorable position if you are Toups.
And I think Gio is pretty much a lock with the way he hit last year & no other true CF. Gets on base— plus plus speed. Plays CF.

This same poster mentioned there would be more attrition yesterday, in response to me saying there wouldn’t need to be any more based on the numbers. I think he knows someone.

Yeah, I get it. I just thought he would have been able to compete for a spot.
It's going to be a common thing for everybody unfortunately. That's why those thinking that the big boys will have a wide talent gap are wrong. The Toups of the world will end up somewhere and raise some hell.

I mean I wish he would’ve stayed too but Drost and Crews are expected to be day 1 starters.
You’ve got to think that at least one of them two stick in the lineup for opening day. After that if he feels the same as you do about Gio then he’s competing with 6 other guys, one of which is a very highly touted recruit.
I can’t blame him for seeing the writing on the wall.
