Haven't seen not one of those things mentioned from Foster this yr not one. Players do improve from their freshmen yrs bra!

You haven't been watching much recently then.

He misplayed ONE fricking ball.
And looked shaky too many other times in his very limited time out there.
Obviously defense is a issue with him if Mainieri keeps refusing to go straight up with him over Stevenson.

Yea that sounds retarded, not one of those things has Foster not done that's made an impact on the game this yr!

Everyone knows his defense is inferior to those two
Apparently not, judging by some of these responses.

The question is, is it inferior enough to keep him out of the batting lineup when Laird and Stevenson struggle with the bat.
Agree, and that's what makes it tough. It looks like Mainieri thinks it is inferior enough because a) he is worse in the outfield than some people realize, or b) he thinks the batting average he has produced in a small sample is a bit of a fluke and the difference in offensive production wouldn't be as big as we think.

I would not mind seeing Rhymes DH and Foster take his spot but it will never happen with PM's loyalty.
Posted on 5/15/13 at 1:36 pm to TigerFan2211
Is that a clarification?

So you're saying you haven't seen Foster get good jumps, run down fly balls, take good routes, and cut off hits in the gap?
I think that's the point.

...you sure about that?
We all questioned Rhymes in LF to start the year but he has ZERO errors this season out there and hasn't really blatantly misplayed any flyballs.
Plus, this puts McMullen on the bench, not smart at all.

That's true but it isn't like Foster is terrible there and we could use the extra bat+arm in the outfield.
Or maybe switch Foster to the opposite side and put someone else there. Maybe Mcmullen. IDK. Something. He needs to be in the lineup. I agree with whoever said Stevenson can't be the best CF because he's made some dumb errors this year.

He did call off Laird on a fly ball in left-center once. The ball fell right in front of Laird.

I think people are taking rhymes for granted in left. He may not have the best speed or arm, but he's been reliable and you know exactly what you're getting with him. The change would have had to be made early in the season at the latest. Switching positions in the outfield isn't as easy as some people may think, so throwing laird/foster/Mac in left this late in the season would be a mistake.

If McMullen could play RF it would solve a lot of issues, but apparently he is worse than Foster.
That would allow you to play Laird or Stevenson in center, and platoon Foster and Moore at DH.

Rhymes let a liner to left go over his head, Stevenson has done it, Laird lost a ball in the sky...they've all made mistakes.
The question is, over the last 12-18 games we have left to play, how many extra runs do you think McMullen/Foster lets in compared to Stevenson? 2 or 3 maybe? How many runs can foster produce in those games? If its greater than 2 or 3, you go with him. I think he is capable of producing a lot more offense than Stevenson.
Want a better defense later in the game, sub Stevenson in for him.

So that fly ball he dropped wasn't an error?

Stevenson has no errors and I can only recall him really misplaying 1 ball, which wasnt an easy play to begin with
