Game 2: Holman v. Molina

Game 3: Jump v. Tygart

Is Jay conceding Game 1?

Smart. Need to avoid getting swept. I'd throw the kitchen sink at them on Friday. Hopefully, Holman is on.

Crazy that 3 of Arkansas' first 4 series are Thurs-Sat.

Last year our ace pitched every game 1, whether it was Thursday or Friday.

Possibly. Multiple teams tried this strategy with Skenes last year

As other have pointed out, just keeping the set Friday (Hollman) and Saturday (Jump) starters on schedule.

I thought it was a little dumb when teams did it last year. Now that we don't have a Skenes and we're facing Hagan Smith, I don't hate the idea as much

It would be fantastic to have someone step up and pitch a gem for us to win Thursday's game.

I don't believe this is the case in my opinion. It might be the case for Jump since we have been a little cautious with him (rightfully so). But Holman pitched a day early to move into the Friday role against Texas.

That was early in the season when the rotation was still being tweaked. Jay was adjusting the rotation. Do you think Jay will be using a different Friday night starter or has changed what I think is his well known philosophy of trying to win game one in a series?

Hagen is having a Skenes type year and Ark played Thurs Fri Sat last week so LSU is at a disadvantage due to the schedule makers having to face Fla Fri Sat Sun

It's probably the smart thing to do because Hagen shut last year's LSU lineup down for the most part both times he pitched against LSU in Baton Rouge and in Hoover

Skenes never got knocked out of a game in the 1st inning. So I’d say he’s not Skenes level. And he can’t consistently throw 100-102 mph missiles.

You could be right. Like I said, that’s just my opinion since Holman has pitched just fine on one day short of rest already this year and is plenty established in the SEC.

Also, if Jay’s goal is to win game 1, Holman gives us the best shot at that.
