I really thought Denbrock was Kelly’s guy and wouldn’t leave except for a head coaching opportunity. This decision leaves me puzzled.

Kelly is going to have a big mess on his hands next season. His unwillingness to jettison obviously horrible staff and inability to keep good staff will bite him bigly.

Denbrock has coached with Kelly for like a combined 16 years and they were GAs together.

Exactly. Denbrock gave up a high paying job for a high paying job 1000 miles closer to home. Quality of life matters.
