The object of the game is to win, is it not? So why would you throw in the towel down by just 2, and only in the 4th inning? To save everyone for a game 2 that might see us getting blown out before we even go to the pen? For a game 3 that looks very unlikely we'll be able to get in?
I'm done trying to reason with idiots who believe trying to steal innings with Dutton and Bucknam is "throwing in the towel".
You people are deranged.

Dutton has struggled since midway through last year. Bucknam never pitched in an SEC game before, and has barely pitched at all.
What did you expect would happen with that, oh wise one?

No clue, but since Johnson said earlier in the week that Bucknam was ready for more significant action, I wasn't shocked that he came in. Also, Dutton threw a scoreless inning, just in case you forgot so that move worked fine.
Then again, I don't lose my mind every time LSU doesn't win a baseball game.

It’s crazy that you think the plan for trying to win a 2 run game against the #6 team in the country on the road includes bringing in a guy who has pitched 4 innings on the year and none against an SEC team. That’s an insane thought.

So disagreeing with a decision is losing your mind, now? You seem to be losing your composure just having a conversation with me. I'm perfectly fine over here. I am able to disagree without calling people "deranged" and using hyperbolic terms to express myself.
Edit- since you added to your post about Dutton pitching a scoreless inning... Yeah, after putting two guys on, he managed to escape that single inning he pitched. How dare I overlook that.

It's not disagreeing with a decision, it's melting and saying the coaching staff conceded a game. That's absolutely absurd.
Call it a bad decision all you want. I haven't disagreed with anyone who's said that yet. I've called out all of you people who are acting like they threw in the towel because they didn't bring in the pitchers that y'all wanted them to. And yes, thinking that was is absolutely deranged.

So you say you don't disagree that it was the wrong decision, yet you think it was deranged that we think it was the wrong decision? I know those aren't your exact words, but that is taking what you said to it's logical conclusion. We think it was a bad decision, because it was essentially throwing in the towel. If we didn't think that, why would we, or you, disagree with the decision?
You seem to have a difficult time grasping the concept of saying a coach threw in the towel, without suggesting that he was all out quitting. He was obviously hoping for better results. No one doubts that. But when you put in two of the least viable options you have in the bullpen, currently, you're signaling that you don't have much confidence in coming back, if you're that concerned about not using a better arm.
It's not complicated.

Trying to steal 2 or 3 innings after a delay isn't throwing in the towel. Saying otherwise is dumb.
Floyd completely shitting the bed today is something worth melting over. Using Dutton and Bucknam after a rain delay in game 1 is not worth melting over.
It really isn't complicated.

Since we are already down 4 should we bring in Money and save the rest of the guys for tomorrows game which probably won’t get played. His plan to win 2 out of 3 is looking great right now.

Most injured pitchers have pre existing injuries that are a nuisance injury garnered in high school for various reasons from to many innings, lack of coaching proper technique, and from kid’s throwing junk they are not developed for. Then you have the second level injury brought on by over throwing trying to overcome fatigue and stressing any one area. Third the one time freak injury that is real bad and can happen at anytime in a pitchers career.
Good upper level coaches do what they can to mitigate these injuries but throwing a baseball is not a natural motion. Good pitchers are hard to come by and exceptional pitchers happen once in a decade. How many teams play college ball? How many are on a team? Do the math. Having four good starters on the staff and the laws of average tell you someone will have a bad outing and some times all in one week.
The coaches are only as good as the information they have. Some pitchers won’t tell the coach they have any health issues before they start a game. We have a great coach. He knows how to manage pitchers. Our weak spot on our team is starting pitching. Our staff is good enough for the offense we put on the field. With one exception our staff above average.

Cooper is out there throwing BP by inning 7 you aren’t going to melt saying the coaches conceded the game by leaving Cooper in when he was clearly done?
You don't have to be a douche canoe because someone disagrees with a portion of what you think.
I don't think it was wise to insert a freshman who has, what, an inning on the season?? With the game not at all out of reach and pretty early on in the game. That was my criticism of JJ. My ONLY criticism of him you'll ever find.
